I recently got some Dynaflight97,I want to make strings for my Hill style bows witch are 50-55lbs, how many strands would you use?I have 16 strand b-50 on them now, should I pad the 97 to 16 strand?
Thank-you Burt
I make 12 strand D97 strings for my 50# & under Hill's...14 strand for over 50#
With D97 you can go 10 and it's going to work pretty good. I used to use d97 and shot 60-65# at the time with 10strand. Pads to 16 with b50 or d97. or .018 serving double served
A 12 strand D97 is strong enough for up to a 100# bow.I shot 12 strand D97 on a 83# DQ Longhunter.12 strand with .024 Halo will give you close to a finished .110 diameter. That fits a lg G-nock(.098 throat) and Easton 3D Super nock great for me.I'll use 8 strands for some of my skinny strings up to 58#,usally if you go below 10 strands you may have to doulble serve for nock fit.
I make a 12 strand D-10 for my 65# lb. Works great

+1
10 or 12 padded will be good to go.

I'd use 12 with the loops padded to 18. You could use less, but I don't know of any reason to. You will get more stretch, more creep, and less durability. You will gain...maybe a couple of fps (or maybe not).
One of the great things about making your own is you get to experiment and see what works best for you.
I use 12 strands on all my bows.

12 strand D97 padded to 14, .024 or .026 depending on nock fit. Good all around string.
Thant you everyone. Tradgang ROCKS
