I am looking for bow for my 9 year old son. He's 53" tall and very strong for his size. I believe a 22-25lb range would be right. I am looking at some bows on **** and also on Lancaster's site. Any advice would be great. Here are the bows I am looking at. It's a deflex reflex longbow. But Black Rhino makes great youth bows. Two of my kids have them. One is 11#@20", the other is 45#@28"
They are a little expensive, but the Bear Kodiak Cub is a really good bow. My son has one and he loves it, It shoots great and has a great grip. You can get one for 199.00 shipped if you look around. You can also get one from Timberhawk bows for 199.00. I bet Scott's Sparrow would be hard to beat at that price.
I have played with the Black Rhinos at some shoots. Quality is to notch and come is many sizes for kids. I believe you can trade in the bow for a bigger one as your kid grows. Black Rhino is good choice but Bear good also.
lost creek ATW
Heard good things about rhino, but i have personally received 4 youth bows from mike mecredy at maddog archery. This man lives/loves to build kids bows. He can build a,recurve or r/d bow for youth. He made those four bows for a group of young boys who are in the royal rangers program. He used top quality woods in the riser. They looked and shot like grown up bows. They are not toys by any means, plus his son is starting in the kids woodies production. His prices are very reasonable. However you decide, their are some great boywers. Much luck
PSE makes some inexspensive recurves and later when needed, you just buy another set of limbs.
I'd give Kevin Brown of Herway Bows a call. He makes great youth takedowns and at very good price. He just built my daughter a riser for her bow (she's switching to left handed).
Check out Herwaybow.com
Check with Black Rhino. They're a sponsor here and I think is now making a pretty good youth recurve. www.bows.net (http://www.bows.net)
A good takedown option is Legends Bows. They make a great takedown youth bow.
Just received my son's THIRD Elk Ridge Archery bow today, a 48inch bow, 20 @ 24. He'll be shooting it this weekend.
Black Rhino!
