I asked the IT department at work to save me their packing foam (ethafoam) whenever they receive a shipment of computers.
The other day, I turned this...

into this...

You might not be able to tell by the picture, but this thing is over 4 feet wide.
this is an good example of the kind of idea a traditional bow hunter might come up with while sitting in a tree stand.
WELL DONE.
Great idea
This really is a great way to make a target. It has saved me a lot of money, and it's by recycling what otherwise would end up in the landfill.
Here's a thread I started a while back on the same topic, with how-to pics:

Excellent idea!!!
Nice target, good idea...
I like it! BeauJ
I Like It Too!... But why not just shoot at the computors?
... mike ... :archer2: ...
Great idea on putting waste to good use...GOODJOB wish I had one!
Nice idea. What kind of life do you get out of it till points poke out the other side? Also, what weight bow and arrows are you shooting into it?
Thats a Fine Job of Recycling!! Better a Target than Stuffed in a Landfill!! Great Work!!
Mike, they last me a long time. Of course, that's all relative, depending on how much a guy shoots. I've been using the same cube now -- the one I made in the how-to on that other thread --for a couple of years, and I've never had an arrow poke all the way through it. With a cube shape, I can turn it around and shoot all 6 sides, and the corners , too.
I'm shooting 740 grain 2419's out of a 65# recurve, and 545 grain 2018's out of a 45# longbow. Both arrow setups go in about 8 inches.
No broadheads with these targets though... broadheads tear the foam up bad and fast.
awesome dude!
Great idea

Thank you for the good answer. You obviously have developed a winner. Now to start saving all the packaging I see get thrown out daily.
Great idea.
GOOD JOB!
Great work, Roman!
Great thinking Roman! Way to be a conservationist!
Kenny
That foam looks like it would work well in bow quivers too...?
Don, I do use it in bow quivers, as well. Works great!
Thats awesome! I use the same foam for replacment foam in my quiver hoods. Doesn't last as long as the factory stuff but for free I can replace it once every couple months.
