Title: Seal Fir Arrow Rest
Post by: Airdale on March 14, 2014, 08:52:00 AM
I shot off seal fir rests for many years and have always liked them but went on to other materials as the fir ran out. Recently on one of the posts about arrow rest material one of you mentioned you have used seal fir for a long time and have an old seal fir coat that will last an awfully long time.  That got me thinking and I went to **** and sure enough there were a number of items listed with seal fir.  Most of the fir I found was faux or imitation.  The real stuff was listed as authentic, at least from sellers that had super ratings. I ended up winning the bid (34.00) on a brown seal fur 34 in jacket. I was surprised to win the bid as the buy it now price was $400. The description said "Authentic Brown Seal Fir coat", "the fir is soft an supple", "incredible condition, no cracking, holes or wear"  I should have it next week. In the meantime I will hope for the best, I have been down the **** road before for some good rides and some bad rides. I just hope the lady that owned the coat used a decent smelling perfume. Will let you know how things work out.

Good luck! By the way, it's "FUR". Fir is a tree.

To think I have been corrected by another up-state New Yorker.  Sure hope the jacket doesn't turn out to be made of plywood.

I also purchased a sealskin item off of **** about 7-8 years ago.  It was an incredibly ugly sealskin purse for a couple bucks, which I cut up and used barge cement to glue to shelf.  Mine wore out rather quickly as opposed to the rests u used to get from Alaska bowhunting supply.  Hope u have better luck.
