Title: True north arrows
Post by: FJTOYMAN on March 11, 2014, 12:42:00 PM
Has anyone used their products? I need a low odor product as I'm finishing my arrows in my garage. I tried a min wax oil based poly and really stunk up the house.
Thanks

I use the water based polycrylic right in the living room without Oder issues. I think I'm going to try out some tung oil on my next set.

Tung oil works well however it does have an odor.

Also I have found that tung oil is not as durable as other finishes, such as the polycrylic, as judged by repeated target shooting which rapidly wears the tung oil away and off the shafts.

The poly, and spar varnishes, are more durable.

I just finished a dozen ash arrows using the true north clear.  I free dipped 4 coats on them and they turned out really nice.  No bad fumes and everything cleans up with soap and water.

Joe@ True North has some nice products that should work well for you. I know he makes some good looking arrows with his products.
