I sincerely hope this was merely a poor attempt at humor. Tradgang is a place I feel privileged to have a voice. There are specific rules to which you agreed when you joined. Consistent enforcement of those rules is what makes Tradgang consistently civilized in this age of keyboard tough guys. It isn't your right to post here, but a privilege.
There's a reason there weren't many replies to this thread... because a lot of us knew right away that it's against the rules to make a post like this. No big deal, we all live and learn. I was frustrated when I first did it and got my post deleted, too.
But consider this...
A lot of smaller vendors pay to advertise here, vendors who have a hard time competing with the prices of the big-box stores. They offer their priceless advice and experience freely here, knowing that the site rules help them to obtain customers, by prohibiting links to non-sponsors, or other outside sites.
I try to funnel my money toward TG vendors and to buying used items from other Tradgangers, as a way to support people and businesses that are contributing toward the future success of our sport. Not that Cabelas, Bass Pro, etc. aren't doing some of that, but I think we'd all agree that the best outfitters and most knowledgeable experts are usually found in small custom shops -- like the ones in our sponsor listing.
My dad closed his archery shop down many years ago because so many guys bought junk from catalog companies and then brought it to him to try to make it work for them. He likely knew more about archery than anyone else in the state we lived in, but that valuable source of information was lost when he had to get into a different line of work because the big box stores pushed him out. Just something to consider.

May I politely ask that you read the rules before you start slinging mud at us. The rule that applied to this thread is the 2nd one on the list.
There's a reason for this rule and its a dang good one. And, its been a rule almost since the beginning. We would like for Tradgang to be a bow hunting forum, and not an internet sales flyer.

Thank you.
Why did you delete my post. All I said was it seemed like a decent pair of binocs for the price. Is that against a rule?
whilst perhaps initially frustrating for those new to the site, the rules are in place to ensure that the sponsors and members get first crack at sales, not outside vendors that have zero stake in the site, this is fairly logical and reasonable by most standards..would Target allow you to post sales ads on their site..say in a section for product reviews? Not likely. There is no rule against discussing a particular brand or model of binoculars here if it pertains to traditional bowhunting...and once you've familiarized yourself with the site its pretty easy to figure out that you can "subtly" discuss good deals out there without 'naming names' etc. That's also what email is for. If you know of a good deal and there is a friend on the site here you'd like to share it with..by all means email them privately.
it makes sense that people will resist the rules..heck we're Americans! :D heck I was guilty of it myself when I first joined...in the end if you take a deep breath, woosah!, and THINK about it for a minute, it really does keep things FOCUSED. not a bad thing.
I would just like to say that the above responses are a great example of what makes tradgang such a special place. Level headed, well composed, informative, caring, understanding responses to what could be perceived as hostility. :clapper: for everyone
Archie, we have that ame situation here. Luckily we trad archers tend to congregate at the local shop-it is the only place to find the traditonal bow/arrow answers people need. the box stores sell stuff, but our local guy gives sevice with the sale.
This site enforces rules-rules are good for many

I like Archie's response, and I never looked at it from that perspective. However, the rest of the responses regarding obeying "the rules" reminds me of another response: "Today we have enacted total gun registration. Our streets will be safer and our populace more secure from elements who refuse to follow our rule of law." 1939-Adolf Hitler.-another power trip mongul.
You can't seriously be quoting Hitler in regard to an archery forum? :knothead:
Furthermore, why don't you stop and think a minute about what this place actually IS...and what ALL the archery forums are...NOT public space. Does the public own the servers? You realize that all of us here are posting and talking at someone else's (those who own the servers/own the site etc) campfire???
Believe me, I'm the LAST person to get a thousand yard stare in my eye about following the rules and 'conforming', but you're really missing the point and trying to incite argument where there truly isn't one, there's only the facts.
I'm not offended by you quoting Hitler in regard to the forum per se, but I AM offended by it seeing as I am a native-speaking German and a history buff myself and you do a huge disservice and disrespect to all the people who died for their beliefs under that man by comparing events here on an online forum to the terror that THAT man caused in my father's country so long ago.
I support your right to free speech, but shame on you.
Mods please close this thread.
