Title: great northern quiver, which one?
Post by: BRONZ on March 08, 2014, 03:17:00 PM
I've got a timberghost rc coming and am wondering which great northern to get...a quick mount right, quick mount left, or strap on. With the belly mounted limbs I'm wondering if a quick mount right would look awkward?   Anybody got pics of one mounted to a widow or timberghost, that would be great.
Right now I'm leaning toward strap on. Are they secure enough to shoot with it on the bow?

I prefer the strap on. I can easily transfer it to another bow.

I have been using my Great Northern for along time and find it to be my go to quiver. I have the standard longbow model but have also owned the adjustable model. Great quality American product . I use a sleek EFA mini that is a close second

Great Northern used to sell a Black Widow mount adjustable strap on quiver with the wires bent to fit on the horns of the forward mount risers. Been over a dozen years since I've seen them for sale. They fit perfectly and work great on my Widow's and Kwyk Styk's. Tried the Quick Mount's, both right and left hand and they just felt awkward on the bow. Might be worth a call to Great Northern to see if they can bend one up to fit it.

I've always thought a LH quick mount on a RH bow would work well on one of my takedowns but ive never tried one. Especially if you like to be able to remove the quiver when you're on stand. I don't like how my bows look or feel with the quiver set behind the riser but that's just me. Here's a pic of an Eagles Flight limb bolt on one of my bows and a strap on Kanati on my 52" static. I modified the Kanati a little to get the angle I wanted.

I use the Quick Detach model on my take down bows, and the strap on model on my one piece bows. I think they make a kickback model now also, but I have not seen that one.

I have an adjustable strap on; very happy with it.

I like the strap on GNQ because I can easily switch it to any of my recurves.

I cut pieces of bicycle innertube and slip them down the limbs under the bases as extra padding and silencing (it's pretty silent anyway) as extra precaution against marring.

I have tried a handful of different quivers, and the one I always go back to is the GN adjustable strap on.

I think the strap on is the direction I'm gonna go. Thx for the info fellas.
