Title: A walk in the woods (pics)
Post by: Jeremy Gentry on March 07, 2014, 06:03:00 PM
Went for a walk today thought I would shoot some stumps and look for some sheds. Didn't find any sheds but some good deer sign.

A old scrap and licking branch.

A decent rub!

he has 3 of these poles torn up in a row. Hard to see in the picture but all 3 are rub.

Cool.  If you haven't yet this fall put a camera on the most used post.  You should get some sweet pictures!

Great photos.  My Daughter and I had a day like that a few weeks ago.  Here she is on snowshoes.

Here's a look at some deer tracks we followed.  It doesn't look it, but their hooves were sinking down almost two feet in the snow, and their bellies were dragging.  Must have been a tough winter for them here.

I believe you are right Easy keeper there is a scrap line that runs parallel to them that I am sure are are community scraps also. some are as big as a truck hood and have a couple inches indentation in the ground.

Jeremy, I grew up in the Wausau area.  I will be back there in a year or three.

Usually there are a few shoots around every summer.

Check out Wisconsin Traditional Archers. Usually there are guys from around the state that can alert you to local shoots.
