Title: D10 sting/serving advice
Post by: Chris Jackson on March 07, 2014, 01:51:00 AM
Gents I've got some BCY D10 on the way.  This will be my first time working with anything besides Dacron.  Any suggestions/advice on strand count/serving size combinations?  I will be using it on bows 40-55 pounds of draw weight and with standard GT nocks and the heavy hunter nocks.

I've made plenty of 12 strand (padded to 16 or 18 depending on bow nock dimensions) D10 strings for my 50'ish # bows.  Good stuff.  I serve with .026 62xs which gives perfect fit on Bohning classic nocks. You might want to go with .024 on the GT nocks though.

Green,

Thanks for the response.  It was on sale so I decided it would be cheaper step into FF stuff.  I noticed you shoot a Morning Star.  Mr. Berry is making one for me should be done by May.  Also on padding the loops are you using the same material or padding with B55 or some other softer material?

All my strings are D-10 now, less creep than D-97. 14 strand and I have them served with .024 Halo serving. The standard GT nocks are a little tight till I shoot the string about 75-100 times.

Reaper,
Thank you for the reply.  Are you padding the loops or leaving them at 14 strands?
