I know this is only a teaser post :saywhat:
More details as they become available, to follow....
-
Danny,
A little more information would help to hold us over until arrival.
Another backwards model? Did you pick the woods?
I gave James full artistic freedom on my up coming build.
:coffee:
-
Like you, I love yew too!

Yes sir, another backwards model. Those are hard to beat. Limited artistic freedom in that I picked out the basic woods and left the details to JD. The man has a eye for what not only looks good, but what works good and compliments each other.
It is a Taipan but with the special Berry horn nocks.
-
Danny, you are not going to like that bow at all. Why don't you just have it mailed to me? I will find a good home for it.
-
No Pavan I think it needs to be sent here for quality testing.
I already know exactly what the quality is going to be but it wouldn't hurt to get it verified...lol
God bless,Mudd
-
We are here for you and we are just trying to help. James if you send it me, then I will send it to Mudd, we will make sure that it is broken in so Danny will have a ready to go bow when he gets it.
-
Mr. Dean,
I must admit that I've had a few anxious moments when JD mentioned something about this new particle board he was using for the limb core wood(s). But with the new glues available now, that should not be a problem, he says.
-
I look forward to the pics and your report. I am certain that I already have the best bow for me that I could get, so I am not looking to acquire more bows. I don't need to tell you, but if you are going see how tight of groups you can shoot with those Berry bows, you will be needing your arrow maintenance supplies.
-
Yew guys wouldn't want this bow,I made it for Danny so I can go to TEXAS and win the state champinships this year. (its a real piece of junk).....sMAeJ
-
Yew guys are rough! Everyone knows the bow should come to St. Louis first, then to Texas only after it's been approved by QC
-
Remember that old catchup commercial where it takes forever to get the stuff out of the bottle?
A N T I C I P A T I O N
Then finally it barely runs out the end of the bottle. Remember that? Let's see what arrives in Friday's mail......
-
Danny - you get that special Knotty Pine/Balsa riser that James was savin' 'special? That old codger says the carnival midgets returned the purple glass they stole just before he built my backwards bow.....just my luck. I'm sure you wouldn't be interested in it cuz you prolly don't want to hide those Yew lams over the OSB core, huh? Is he givin' yer bow a wedgie in the tips, too?
-
You need another new bow like.......nevermind!
Congrats in advance on your new stick!

Just wait till after I get back from taking Ben hog and javvie hunting on spring break. There will be an onset of marvelous bows going on the sale block. I've found my bow nirvana.
-
Ya know JD said he would put the Bow on the next stage for Texas...
Should get there in a month or so....

Which ones are the nirvana?? You have 100 bows. And a new one coming ? Lol
-
really looking forward to seeing this one...if you get a chance id love to see a strung profile pic too. a new bow would be the cure to beat this spring fever.
-
When I have more bows than I can shoot, I find someone that needs a bow. I have run out of people to give bows and arrows, so I cannot buy any more.
-
Bows on the wall, bows under the bed(s), bows in the corner, bows in the closet(s)..../. Wait, I still have room in one closet. Wonder what the lead time is now for JD?

OCD? I am not sure if it applies to bow hoarding. The woman across the street heats and insulates her house with cats, everyday in the summer she mows her yard and blows every inch of it out on the street. I hear that damn leaf blower going for hours, OCD at its best. Is having many bows like a stamp collection? Every so often, they take them and rearrange them. I used to have wall covered with bows. One day it dawned on me that if I wanted to move, all of those recurves would be hard to pack. When I was checking them over, I found that I also had a very fine dust collection. I sneezed for a half hour, until my neck was out and I had a migraine. It was time for the wall of bows to go.
-
JD called me this evening. He asked how I liked the bow.....I told him, "Well, I'm sure I will if it ever gets here." Long pause at the other end of the phone. "Seriously, you don't have it yet?" he said. "Nope"
A ruffle of papers and JD gave me the tracking number. Seems the last time it was scanned was yesterday when it left Spokane, WA.
Where O' where has my little bow gone,
Oh where, oh where can it be?
James is worried....I'm trying to be patient till the morrow. I'll keep y'all posted.
:banghead:
-
:coffee: Can't wait to see it.
-
Danny.....I guess James used up all his USPS mojo getting that Northstar here last month. Fingers crossed that your shows up on Saturday! :D
-
is it home yet??
-
Last tracking showed it was at the sort facility in Fort Worth. Too bad, my grandson and I are headed out in the morning to spend four days chasing javvies and hogs. Guess it will be next Thursday before I even see it.
-
Good luck to you and your grandson, Danny.
-
Teaser!!!! :bigsmyl: Can't wait to see it.
-
Heck I can't wait to see it either !!! I just placed a order today with JD for a Taipan , he said after we were done with the details, ok now for the bad news it will be 9/10 months before I see it. It's going to be a fun wait :biglaugh:
-
Ric...where yew at?? we need a report!
-
He comes back Thursday . He's hunting piggies/javies
-
Hey Danny....Can't wait to see the new addition to the family !
-
Sorry for the delay in getting back to all. I wasn't trying to prolong the suspense. The bow wasn't delivered until last Monday and by then I was 400 miles from home with my grandson chasing pigs in the rain. :banghead:
Got home late last night and spent the day unpacking and get reorganized. Anyway, I opened the package from James and here is what I found.

Specs: wenge riser, yew veneers with amber bamboo core, bloodwood as an accent in the limb core, blonde bamboo and macassar ebony for the riser overlays with desert ironwood, blonde bamboo and tulip wood for those exceptional Berry nocks.
66" 54# @ 28". I believe it was worth the extra weeks wait. How about y'all?
-
Ric, please tell me that you hate it and want to sell it to me.
You sir have fine taste in bows and woods.
-
Now that is a gorgeous bow!!!!
That right there is what James does, puts out beautiful bows that shoot better than they look and that's a tall order. I am in love with my Taipan and it makes it hard to shoot another bow due to how effortless it is to be accurate with.
Congrats on the bow Danny
-
Flat out awesome looker, hearty congrats to you sir and to JD for crafting another great bow.
Man I wish I could talk JD into a take down version.
-
What Brian said X2
Drool...Man, I'm on again-off again about those nocks, but right now I'm liking them...
Nice bow Danny! Now get out and show us some groups. That's what they do best...
-
Beautiful Danny...worth the wait for sure. How was y'all's hunt other than the rain?
-
:archer:
-
That is a beauty!!!!
-

 :notworthy:

Very nice....hope to shoot one someday!
