Title: Ryan Gill's new book
Post by: ron w on March 03, 2014, 09:34:00 AM
While at the TBOF spring shoot in Ocala I bought a book by Ryan Gill. It's called Sticks and Stones. Just started to read it and it appears to a good read for anyone who likes primitive bow hunting. Ryan did almost all the work on the book himself and I think he did a pretty good job. Also watched Ryan do some knapping while there, I was impressed with his skills for a young guy...neat stuff.

I also bought Ryan's book.  He is a master at crafting self bows, arrows and especially stone points.  Not a bad hunter either !!!!!

I haven't seen Ryan's book but as long winded as he is with his posts I'm not surprised he has written one. From what I've seen of Ryan's stuff on here and on PA he is quite the craftsman and hunter.

I have one of Ryan's snaky Osage self bows. The bow has a lot of natural string follow, but shoots very nice. He has a style and natural feel for shaping and tillering such a bow. You would know what i mean if you saw the bow.The bow is numbered 99# 51@ 27 with his signature. IV' built a few self bows so I can really appreciate his work. I'll have to see about getting his book to go with it.

Looking forward to reading it. He can definitely walk the walk, too. I've got one of his self bows, a snaky osage beauty. I plan on using it more this off-season for pigs, coons, and the like.

I'm sure it is a good read. I like his YouTube videos and visit his website/face book page often.

I thought I was going to get one of his Osage bows off our classifieds for cheap but someone got it before I could count my pennies...
