Title: Bear kodiak hunter
Post by: Homey88 on March 02, 2014, 07:45:00 PM
My grandfather passed on his old bear kodiak hunter to me and it has been awhile since I shot the bow. I used to fling arrows with it when I was a kid. I strung it up the other day and the brace height was around 9 inches. Does this sound right for this bow? The bow is 58 inches at 43# the serial number on it  is 7t12844 I believe it is from the 60 or early 70's. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

1967 . The brace sounds a bit high to me though. I would try it lower at 8"- 8 1/2 or so and see how it shoots.

In the late 60s the serial number started with the year so that one is going to be a 1967 model. If I remember correctly, the brace height should be between 7.5 and 8.5 inches. My 1968 model shoots great with a 8.5 brace height. Enjoy it, they are great old bows.

It is a 67 as that's the only year the khunter was made 58". Also can tell by the first number in the serial number, 7 meant 1967, as that's how bear designated the year during that era. 9" may be a bit high for BH, 71/2-81/2" would be the BH I would try and work with. Good luck, they are great bows.

Brace is to high at 9.0, I would change to a high of 8.0...spec is 7.0 to 8.0 for brace.
