So, what do you think? I adapted a horse quiver to a wheelchair-it suits Asian style archery completely, now I just need to get used to pulling and nocking in one motion.
I hand-assembled it all, with walnut stain on wood and rawhide. Body is aspen, birch dowel separators, upper strip is rawhide held on with brass tacks and the lower is laced paracord. I plan on cutting off the paracord tiedown and wrapping and replacing with natural fibers when I get hold of some. This took forever, but in the end it was worth it. Now I need a smaller, quieter leather or some such version for hunting. Maybe a gorytos, at that.
thats thinking outside the box
Creative idea!
I don't think I've seen a weaponized wheelchair before. Nice job.
That is a great idea, hope you don't mind if I send this to my friend out in Idaho. He shot my bow out of his chair when I visited for elk season this passed season and got hook on trad.
Very cool. Looks like it belongs on a chariot.
njloco, feel free. I'd do another one if his chair is similar-and he could draw from it properly. Remember, we Asian style archers shoot with our arrow on the opposite side of the bow. I love helping others, and I love working with wood. Bowmaking needs a lot of tools I don't have, but simple tools did just fine for that.
Atta boy Ed. Love it! Adapt and overcome.
COOL  Is the quiver all wood???
Yup. Aspen, which I won't use again because it's so soft. I'll probably go with knotty pine or cedar for the second time around, but I still need to get a reliable source for ERC lumber here. It's still not very heavy-I could wear it on my back if it didn't have the chair hook.
That is awesome looking!
Very cool! :clapper:
Looks great! Glad you were able to shoot still.
:clapper: :clapper: Way cool!
:archer:
Very cool!
Thanks everyone, I figure when I get a hat like Mudd's I'll finally be set.
EVERYTHING changed when I got sat in that chair. I still have no idea what kind of arrows to fill that quiver with, and no materials yet. Hoping to swap around for stuff when turkey season starts, I know a fair few hunters.
I have to keep my hands occupied, though. This fits the bill. I've got one last bow for myself to finish as well as one swap bow and then I can devote more time to woodworking like this. Hopefully the next will be much lighter and better looking.
Way to go. Adjust and survive. Be creative and live comfortably.
Great idea
Nice.
It dose look like it belongs on Chariot.
You shoot Mongolian style, do you use a thumb ring....?
That is really cool,nice work
Yes, I use thumb rings. Have a few I've made, but want one a little tougher than CA-soaked wood.
Cool quiver, Call it the Ben Hur
Very cool
That's awesome. Good work. Adapt and overcome. Thanks for sharing.
Looks very cool .
Nice idea Ed , I'm not that handy I will stick with the PVC tubing. :knothead:
Very nice
Man that thing is cool looking! I wish I was creative like you. Awesome Job!
Bob.
