Title: New SBD
Post by: jkm97 on February 28, 2014, 07:29:00 PM
I just received my new SBD for my BW PSA. All I can say is wow. I cannot believe his much quieter it made my bow. Anybody who has not tried one sure needs to. That is all.

I have them on about 5 different bows right now and..... WOW they are awesome. Picked up a Widow PCH awhile back and put the Psycho hunter on it, holy cow super quiet and way faster, I say FASTER because I own a chrony and ran it with all my other bows through it. I actually picked up 8FPS on my BW.
On one of my older Grizzlies @60#s put one on and picked up 9FPS.

No chrono here, so I have no idea if its faster or not. But the noise reduction is worth every penny, and then some.

Pierre knows how to tame a Widow.

An SBD string with wool string scallops from Two Tracks (a sponsor here) will improve the performance and make every one of my bows quieter and smoother at release! And if for some reason I'm unsatisfied with the stealthiness of this combo, I'll use Bow Hush and Hush Puppies from our very own Terry Green. Works every time! I place the top silencer at the 1/4 mark, and the bottom at the 1/3 mark with either set up. This has worked so well for me, that I no longer worry about trying different strings or silencers. It is my go to set up, and before I tune any new bow, I'll install these first.

I'm liking this thread - just ordered my first SBD a couple days ago. I'll chime in again when I get to shoot it.

The difference is hard to appreciate without trying it first hand.

I'll be getting one for my Hoyt when it comes in. The stock string probably isn't that great.

Great strings, I have them on most of my bows. Great performance from Pierre's strings.

I just got one for my Abbott longbow a few weeks ago, awesome string. I'm going to order another one for my Fedora recurve. Top quality strings!

Silent But Deadly. It's a skinny string, mine is 8 strands instead of the more normal 12-16 strands. It's padded more, so it makes the bow quieter and most say faster as well. I don't have a chrono, so I can't vouch for any speed increase, but it very noticeably quieter. SBD is a sponsor here.

to me this string was a major breakthrough as far as increased speed and quietness of my bow.You will notice immediately after the first arrow is shot from your bow. I'll never use another string again. The only problem I have is keeping the arrow on the string that is to loose to hold the nock. I'll put dental floss to build it up. The maker may able to build it up more I just have not talked to him yet since I just received the strings. This is still a non issue compared to the benefits you get.

Does he ask you what nock you plan to use when you order a string?

He does ask what nock you're using.  I just put my order in last week and have two more on order when my new TimberGhost RC arrives this summer!  Gotta love how SBD praises our Savior on their website also!

Pierre has a few of every nock made, just let him know what you are using when the order is placed and he will serve it accordingly.

He did ask what nock I used but I have a bunch of different nocks that I have accumulated through the years and really did not know what nock I was shooting. I think I'll know next time what to order. I still can't believe how good that these strings will make your bow perform. You owe it to yourself to try one of these strings on the bow that you will take to the woods. I'm so glad that I listened to one of these treads and bought one.
