Title: nocking point?
Post by: Dannon on February 28, 2014, 07:45:00 AM
I was shooting yesterday and thought I would do a little paper tuning. Well my arrow was tearing high, so I move my nocking point up a little at a time. By the time it was shooting bullet holes it was about 3/4" ubove center. Does this sound too high? What are your thoughts? My setup is 51@28" shooting a GT 3555 with standard insert and 125 grn. field point.
Thanks,
Dannon

For 3 under that is not too high at all. I start at 1/2" and go up from there. For some reason I end up around 5/16 for a lot of my bows. Some guys start at 3/4" and go up from there. Hit the search button and type in nock point and you will find several posts of where guys are in terms of 3 under nock point but you will find most are somewhere between 1/2 and as high as 1".

It's on the high side for split, but not unreasonable.  I shoot split and nock about 5/8 inches high on most bows.

Thanks for the responses. I thought it was a little high myself.

Proofs in the pudding. I shoot three under myself, but I'm always 5/8"-3/4".

I shoot 3 under and usually end up with 5/8-3/4"
Tuned is tuned. Don't over think it.
