Need some help with arrows, Tried using the game getter 500 arrows from my Hoyt Buffalo but it doesn't work too well. My draw is 26.5 and the Big five is 50# at 26.5 the Hoyt is 50# at 28'. Help please!
40-45 cedars 27" bop with 125 up front, 45-50 cedars 27" bop with 145s. 1816s 27" bop with 125s, 1916s with 145 up front @ 27" bop.
so like 1816 Easton jazz? I got some on the way for my 32# recurve. I'm new to this stuff, started shooting in November.
I have about the same specs as you and that is what worked for my 50# Hill. I have a low 50s yew right hand, I no longer shoot right handed, that may have a 1/16" deeper sight window that will shoot those same arrows. I quite often used 50-55 cedars with 160 up front or 1918s with 200 grains worth of point and insert when using a padded fast flight. All of my arrows with broad heads are 27" bop. I shoot split fingers and fletch my arrows so the hen feather is angled, not straight down, with my string nock under the arrow 1/8" up from square. With Hill bows and draw lengths under 27" the spine requirements go down fast compared to center shot recurves. I have seen many guys shooting very long arrows with higher spines, but the Hill way was to use minimum length arrows. I am always pleased with how net length arrows shoot, those are target arrows are measured to the front shoulder of the point and drawn completely onto the shelf. Shooting net length arrows is Avery good way to control and establish a consistent draw length.

Your overspined with the gg 500. I would start with a full length .600 spine carbon and bareshaft tune. I shot GT 1535 Trads (.600) 29 inches long with 175 grains up front out of my 50# longbow. My draw is about 27.5 inches.

I looked at all the arrow charts and they say I should be using 500 spine arrows cut to 27 inches. So I tried the gamegetters again but this time with different heads, the 100 grain heads made the bow really loud and the 175 grain head dipped down a bit. I tried full length 3555 gold tips with 175 grain and they seemed to work ok. So I'm going to buy some different arrow heads and a lot of different arrow shafts just in case I get some more bows :D
A 500 cut to 27" with a 26.5" draw would work great on a 65# bow cut to center.... But not a 50# bow... If you had a 30" draw you could make em work with the right weight up front.
damn arrow charts, 1535 it is. What point weight would you guys recommend? I've got 100, 125 and 175 at home.
