anyone got one? how well would it stand up to wood arrows with broadheads? my wife gave me a $300 budget for a new target in april, so...........
If it is the one that has a compression panel on the back and a replaceable square shaped core I would stay away. Worse target I ever had. Rhinehart!
Agreed, spend your money on a Rinehart or McKensie. You don't find Glendels at clubs for a reason.
Love my glendel full rut buck. Has done me good and lasted a long time. I'm due for a new insert but that's not bad considering I've had it almost 4 years. I'd get another in a heart beat.
And broadheads are hard on ANY target.
My wife gave a glendale several years ago. UGLY! I have to admit it lasted alot longer than I expected. The thing that tore mine up real fast was shooting from an elevated position. As long as the arrows enters the layers flat it doesn't do much damage. Broadheads will shred the layers fast.
I've had two Glendels in two years. They do not hold up to heavy shooting.
Jake
I had one the older design I did not like that right under the insert there was metal that ran across the bottom of the target and in the legs too so if I hit low I would trash an arrow. So a low heart shot and I would toast an arrow (axis shafts mind you)The rack on it was ridiculous very cheap foam antlers broke the first day I had it . Well after I wore out the layered insert I went to buy a new one. And they redesigned the Glendel. So,I could not get the old style inserts. I could have special ordered one but I felt it was pointless. I would not buy a Glendel again I would look at Rhinehart. Also look at the prices of the replacement vitals. $300 is a lot to throw at a foam deer jmo..
I agree, stay away. The flap that goes over the top of the square insert will only withstand and couple shots. Once that thing gives the whole target falls to pieces. Mine lasted one month.
Had one and didnt hold up well for me at all. I bought a Rhinehart and it held up alot better .
I've had a Full rut buck (the early one with the square insert) I have had it for 6 years, replaced the insert a few times it is now ready to be replaced.
BTW haven't had any problems with it coming apart.
It is weathered pretty bad.
I was shooting it today with my Bowtech and BHs.

This. you hit a little high and your arrow hits metal.
I bought a rhinehart rhinoblock blem this time. Holds up well and I can take it with me easily.
The area above and below the insert will not hold up and the target will in two pc's in no time!
Add to that plastic legs, which if you hit them with a field point that penetrates, you'll have to cut it out!
For the money they are junk!!
Take a look at Big Jims Rhinehart blem bucks. For $300 you could get two of them with two extra inserts and have money left over. Well...after shipping, maybe a little over. :saywhat:
Rinehart on that budget!
worst target i have ever owned. i have had cheapo deltas that have lasted years while the glen del lasted two weeks and the insert flap broke and the center kept falling out. and they are full of metal bars.
Get a RINEHART from big jims, my Glendale's legs fell off in the first week, the core is ok the rest of the target is trash
I have had a Reinhart Woodland Buck for a few years and it is holding up well. They are under $150 bucks - add a 18-1 Reinhart and there goes your $300 - ha!
I agree with almost everyone else, the Glendale just did not hold up long at all. My wife bought one for my son and I for Christmas one year and within only a few months it was in pieces, I used expanding foam to glue it back together several times. Those plastic legs are a nightmare. BeauJ
You guys talk about cutting in it half, i guess I just hit the spot like I'm suppose to..... :saywhat:
At least you get a good visual of a pass through when you shoot that target.
Glendel!
lol, shoot what you want.
Regret buying mine,no more Glendel's for me.
Leland
I need to correct myself I said I HAD one. I still have and use mine if I can figure out how to post a pic I will show you all my target.
I have read all the posts and I believe that some of you (or myself) are talking about different 3D targets. My (Glendel Full Rut Buck) does NOT have FOAM antlers OR PLASTIC LEGS. Yes they do have a steel skeleton, but I believe that they all do else wise they would break trying to put them together. For that matter taking hits from hundreds if not thousands of arrows with or without BHs.
I have one and it is a piece of junk do not buy one. Widow
Glendel, bad.
Reinhart, terrific.
Thats been my experience.
worst target I ever had!(and most expensive) I should have gotten a McKensie.
These are good people to deal with and very good targets R&W targets

I can guarantee that the target I am talking about is a Glendel, it has plastic legs, and fell apart!
You have a really old Glendale with the layered insert(they were good targets) but the new ones are junk! :deadhorse:
I have a Full Rut model and also a Buck model. The Full Rut model has a hard support piece in the belly that could destroy your arrow if you hit it. I've lost 6. I've been through two cores in a year and the body is barely held together still. I'm now shooting at the hind quarters.
Here is a picture of the Buck I received this Christmas. I wrote Glendale and told them that after 20 days, their target didn't last. Here is there response:
Hello,
We appreciate the feedback. Our "5X" advertising is stating that the core offers 5 times more shooting surface area than the competition. That being said, the only area intended to be shot is the core. This is the only portion of the target that is designed to withstand repeated shooting.
The core, once the outer foam starts to chip away, looses all of its integrity. I dont have a current picture of the 5X core but if that is what lasting five times longer than the competition is then the competition must last maybe 1 month. My 5x core is shredded. Their foam is horrible. I will never spend one more penny on their product. Buy a Rinehart. Im switching to the Rinehart Rhinoblock. The target is now in pieces. Yeeh... THAT is DEFFINETLY NOT the target I have.
Rienheart for sure. Arrows pull much easier and they last longer. Just me but I'll never own a Glendel
OK got a couple pics of MY Glendel Full Rut Buck.
Yep That's right I still have the antlers even after 6+ years (//%5Burl=http://s1022.photobucket.com/user/rboulton_photos/media/3Dtargetpics005.jpg.html%5D%20%5Bimg%5Dhttp://i1022.photobucket.com/albums/af344/rboulton_photos/3Dtargetpics005.jpg) [/IMG] (//%5Burl=http://s1022.photobucket.com/user/rboulton_photos/media/3Dtargetpics004.jpg.html%5D%20%5Bimg%5Dhttp://i1022.photobucket.com/albums/af344/rboulton_photos/3Dtargetpics004.jpg) [/IMG]
I have two of them that my wife bought at Cabelas in the bargin cave .... one is the full and the other is a bit smaller but still bigger than most deer targets. I have had them for at least four years and they are still going strong with one insert replacement on the smaller one. The smaller one is getting close to being shot through the back compression piece and I do not like hitting the lower metal piece along the belly, but all in all these have been pretty good targets. The full rut is still in darn good shape and I have shot LOTS and LOTS of arrows into each of these targets. I use the rump for BH's on the small one, works great ...
Yeah' I think I got this one from Cabelas too. I have gone through about 5 inserts on this one. I too use the rump area for BHs nowadays. The nose is just about gone Due to my dog, he likes to attack "Bucky" There are a couple BHs stuck in it, I cant find them.
Rinehart Rinehart Rinehart
Have to agree, dollar for dollar, Rinehart for me. I hate plastic anywhere on a target.
I have the same one as motorhead. I shot through it quick.
