Tenbrook,
Those are some crazy lines on that bow! Do you have a pic strung? Very nice wood there too.
Black and white ebony
Everything goes with black :D
This is the only black glass bow I own but I think it looks good.
Onyx actionwood, light as a feather.

I love black glass bows. Just about anything goes great. I built one and called it a hornet. black glass and sage with maccassar flare. It looked awesome. That's about the strangest one I have done but love heavily figured walnut or koa with it and some red uniweft outlining the riser and for the power lam.
God bless, Steve
I have two bows with black glass. One is my Dick Palmer longbow that has walnut for the riser. The other is my Browning Cobra II.

Koa, Cocobolo, Kingwood, Rosewood, and several other darker woods go great with black glass. About half of my bows have black glass on them and darker color risers. Another wood that comes to mind is Osage. I didn't like it at first with the black glass but once it darkens up it really goes well with it.
Rosewood, cocobolo, pau ferro, walnut.
Zebra wood.
Bocote and black looks awesome.
Bubinga + Black Glass= Beautiful bow !
Alot of choices, hard to go wrong. You can see a 52" Kestrel bow on Dan Toelke's website that is Cocobolo riser and black glass limbs. Beautiful.

If it's the same pic I'm thinking of, I owned that bow for a while. :)
The contrasting of colors always look good maple or osage would make a nice looking bow.
Jeff,
Almost any redish and figured wood is stunning with black glass. It was my goto combination for sometime on new customs. Here are a few black glass bows and cocobolo I have ordered and sold...
Stewart Slammer Special

As it's been said. ANY of the woods people are saying work. It's almost a perfect match for any bow. No matter what you choose it'll look good. Some real nice bows up there fellas!

Zebra wood or bocote look good with black glass.
I love the B&W ebony with black glass. I also like the black glass accents through the riser like those shown in Zradix's pics. A reddish coco or dark bocote also look great. I'd want something that had a nice black grain in the wood rather than brown. On the flip side is something like a very light myrtle burl for the contrast. There is a pic of the Robertson new "wolfer" bow that has a very light myrtle with black accents in the handle.
Bocote
This may sound cheesy, especially with me being an exotic wood junkie, but I think gray actionwood is stunning with black glass.
I sold the bow below long ago, but add a gray ratsnake to black glass and gray actionwood and....I wish I still had this bow...

My favorite is kingwood. Riser also has an ebony saddle with grey actionwood limb cores and accents.

Bodork,
More info. on that bow please. Interesting lines.
Thanks,
~CB
I've seen some black and white ebony with black glass that has me looking for a piece of that stuff right now.
Zradix what a beautiful Whip. Bocote and black is stunning.
My black Wesley Special has a black ebony riser.
Thanks CB. I made that bow for a bow swap several years ago. It went to Steve at voodoo customs. He supplied the kingwood and the rest was at my discretion. Mike
Cocobolo, or zebrawood.

sorta reminds me of an old Herter's Perfection 46 I used to have.
The Herter's was surprisingly nice for such a short bow...only a 40" string.
This one of Tenbrook's is a heck of a lot prettier...I'll bet it shoots better too.

WOW
I was under the impression that Cody's shorties were Herter's perfection 46 replicas (with style). Is this accurate?
I should have a very nice photo to share with everyone tomorrow :)
Come on mailman!
Cocobolo for me!

I too like Black limb bows. I think almost any wood with some black grain lines in it like Bocote or Cocobolo look very nice with them. I also really like adding some black phenolic in the riser as well to set off the combo.
I also really like the gray actionwood/black phenolic in a riser with black glass limbs. With that combo some red accents also catch my eye.
Yep, Bocote and Black is sharp to me.

I had one of those and the finger pinch would bring tears to your eyes. It did shoot pretty well though.
Cocobolo and myrtle works for me:

Ziricote is one of my favorite woods and would look great with black glass.

Mailman delivered...or should I say Chad Holm delivered! I'll post more pics in a separate thread when I get some pics of it outside (that will do it justice).
African Blackwood and black glass.

On a Hill style longbow, I like the look of black glass on bamboo limbs with a myrtle wood riser, gloss finish.
Ditto Bocote, also B&W Ebony and Zebra
