I just went to cabelas and exchanged my Bear Archery Super Kodiak for a SuperMag 48.. The Kodiak was a 60# draw, and I found it was a little too much for me to be able to shoot as much as I wanted to in order to zero in on my form (back was so sore after shooting 150 arrows that I had to take a break for 3-4 days).
my supermag 48 arrives in the mail today - 50# draw. I have no rational explanation for WHY i feel i will like the shorter bow (48#, forward grip centerline arrow rest) - except that my guy tells me this will be a better fit, so I'm listening to my gut (sometimes referred to the "balls" brain, or primal instinct)
if anyone has any real world experience shooting the supermag 48 I'd love to hear how it shot for you
Mine shot great for me. I just couldn't get used to that grip. If you shoot split with that bow finger pinch will be an issue. I shoot two under so finger pinch is never an issue.
so with the two under you don't use the index finger?
I had a couple of the older ones, and they were twitchy as all get out and stacked like crazy. Don't know about the newer ones.
What's your draw length GS? 2 under is usually the index and middle finger.

Actually I use the index and middle fingers. Toelke style middle and ring finger is kinda painful at heavier draws and glasses are a problem.
Did you shoot the Super Mag before you traded for it ? There is quite a difference between the two. I shoot my older ones from time to time. I find them very easy to torque. Perhaps the grip is different on the newer ones. Hope it works out for you.
Be interesting to see how you like the short bow. I never could,shoot them well.
Also if your going to shoot 150 plus arrows at a session you still need to let the muscles rest for a couple of days.
so I've never actually learned a proper grip... anyone able to explain what you're wrist angle should be in relation to the bow? was tinkering around a bit at 10 yards and was able to hit bullseye 3 times back to back. but I'd like to know what the property grip is so i don't torque my limbs
The grip on a K-super mag is high wrist. Just let your hand comform to the grip. Most of the bow's draw weight will come to rest in the web between your thumb and forefinger. That's what a high wrist is designed to do.
If you put too much pressure on the heel of your palm/grip, you'll be applying vertical torque to the bow. Likewise, if you squeeze the grip, you're likely to twist it out of alignment from side to side, creating side torque on the limbs.
If that's your picture under your handle, I'm surprised you can even shoot the super mag. It looks like you have a very long draw, in the 30-inch range. Drawn to that length the Supermag has to stack like all get out, and finger pinch has to be substantial, even with three under.
my draw length is about 28-29. not experiencing any stacking whatsoever. i've heard that was a problem with the older models, but even a review by jeff Kavanagh on YouTube (he's much more experienced in bows than i am) where he says the same thing. and i'm using Vista no-glove string savers - no pinch shooting split fingers, smooth release
