Title: Fletching Issue?
Post by: wisconsinteacher on February 23, 2014, 06:26:00 PM
I flectched some arrows with turkey feathers and wraps.  I used fletch tape and then added a drop of super glue on the ends.  The last step caused the issue.  The feather slid on the shaft and they are now not straight.  I am thinking the glue activated with the tape or caused too much lubrication with the tape and the feathers natural curve took over and pulled the tape off the shaft.  Have you ever had this happen?  I hope I can put each feather back in the jig and reglue them down because they are now loose.  Any hints or tips?

Hints?  Yes, don't use super glue.  Use fletchtite.  Fletch tape if you must but use Fletchtite to dab the ends and a bit along the sides.  Super glue is not a cure all glue.

I have had it happen when the tape and arrow were cold...now I just make sure they are at least at room temp...I use super glue all the time but it just sets so slow when it is cold. BeauJ
