I'm am looking to get myself a new or new to me one piece recurve. This is not a post asking who makes the best recurve. I'm just looking for suggestions as to bowyers I should be looking at. I prefer a 62" or 64" bow with a full riser.I just want to make sure I'm looking in the right places. I don't want to overlook anyone who makes a good one. Who has some suggestions for me? Thanks in advance.
The one I have been looking at is the new Toelke 64" static recurve. It looks pretty sweet to me!They make some fine bows!
Whippenstick Hellfire,Wes Wallace,Blacktail,Widow PA or PTF,RER Arroyo,Rose Oak Ultra Delight,Border Riever are a few I would be looking at for a fuller risered 1 Piece. All are offered in 62",63" and a few in 64".
In a vintage full risered curve Bear Super K or Kodiak 1964,65,66 in 64" or Jack Howard would fit the bill.
The Toelke Super Static mentioned above does have a longer riser for a 50s style bow and has little bit more mass weight than some 50s style recurves.Thier really nice looking and elegant bows. Not quite as much mass weight though as some of these other bows.
Ben Graham of Hummingbird bows makes a very good 1 pc.bow
martin hunter........
The riser on the Super Static is 21 3/4". From the very ends where the riser fades into the limbs. The SS should stand for Super Smooth. Its pretty quiet too. Ive put "Aftermarket" strings on it but find the Toelkes stock 8 strand D97 endless loop with catwhiskers to be the quietest set up. Love that Curve!
My buddy who lives in SE Michigan Chrono'd his SS today. I chrono'd mine last year and they both shoot a 9gpp arrow around 194 fps. Pretty decent.
Blacktail and Schafer Silvertip are my favorites. A couple I haven't spent a lot of time with but like anyway are the Robertson Tribal Styk and Kota Prairie Swift.
1pc S-Tip, but Dave only makes them 60",
63" Rose Oak Ultra Delight, I think that Brandon makes them longer too.
Check them out
I just posted my opinion of a couple of 1-piece, full-riser curves on the thread: Fox vs Schafer 1-Piece.
I have a 58" Maverick coming in May, it is available in 62" as well. The Fox has a fantastic grip and the workmanship is top-of-the line. I owned a Fox High Sierra but foolishly let it get away.
I have a Rose Oak Ultra Delight (SE) coming early next week. I rate it as the top of the heap, maybe tied with a couple other bowyers but 2nd to none. It will also be a 60" bow but is available as a 63".
I've also owned Rose Oak bows and even shot an Ultra Delight SE last April.
The 3rd one that I would consider would be a Schafer 1-piece.
Any one piece that Black Widow makes. :archer2:
RER Arroyo is a terrific one piece that's static tip. It's one of the smoothest bows you will shoot.
Blacktail's are just flat out great bows. :archer2:
Well, a lot depends on your time frame. Black Widow can have you a nice bow out right now in 7-8 weeks. Some bowers 4 months to a year plus. That in mind there's a lot of really nice bows being made today and the guys above have already pointed out most of my favorites. Blacktail,Silvertip, and the Widows are ones that always seem to shoot well for me personally.
My favorite widow is the 1-piece PA. Very graceful lines and like all the Widows I've had, fantastic quality.
If I ever obtain another Widow it will be another PA, probably the PA2 in 58 or 60" -- I think grey bows are cool looking and they aren't as expensive as the exotics.
Dale Dye of Trails End recurves makes a very nice one piece.
You will never go wrong with a Howatt Hunter, especially if you csn find a vintage dosdwood riser..
Pardon my misspelled word...meant Brazilian Rosewood

How about some of the Bear bows ?
Javaman Assyrian, it's all you need !!!
Rose Oak Bows - Brandon Stahl
One piece is all he does, and they are sweet.
Kota Great bows Real good price and quality!
Border
Those fox bows are awesome...
Can't wait for a review...
:clapper:
7 Lakes is making a 1 piece in 54 and 60 inches.
Dale Dye has an excellent one piece that's 62" that has a long riser
i have to second a widow PAII.... great bows and one i wish i had never sold....
IMHO - One of the most overlooked recurves are Bruin Bows by Mike Steliga. I've owned a lot of top end recurves (including BW) and the Bruin Line have always been my favorites. Fast, forgiving and very quiet. Mike builds a really good bow with years of experience.
My two favorite recurves are Blacktail and Kota. There is a significant price difference but both are excellent bows.
My experience has been that a lot of the customs are beautiful, but don't shoot any better than some of the mass-produced stuff. Super Kodiak shoots as well as all, and better than some of the customs I've owned.
