Title: Recurve vs Longbow String
Post by: BrownA5 on February 18, 2014, 09:56:00 PM
I have a Shawnee recurve (A Riser, B limbs) and just picked up a set of longbow limbs (B's).  Since I have not shot any longbows, any problem with using the string from recurve with the longbow limbs just to try it out?  I was concerned that the loop on a recurve string might be bigger and come off.  Thanks for the input!

Depends...string it up and use common sense.  If in doubt, I wouldn't risk it.

It will work fine if it's the right length. A twisted limb might throw a string, but the size of the loop makes no difference, within reason of course.
