I was getting upset trying to remove cap wraps on arrows im redoing. I tried the water method and it helped but not very much.
I looked at my torch and said what the heck lets give it a shot. Worked like a champ.

I use a hair dryer. Your way looks faster. I would just be afraid of hurting the carbon.

I do it basically the same way except I use a cigarette lighter to heat up the wrap.I have done it with a lighter for a few years,it doesn't get the arrow too hot but heats and softens the wrap.
Yep...BIC or Zippo lighter works great
They make a device specifically for this it's called a heat gun, sold in most home improvement stores.
I use a heat gun. Hair dryer works, just takes too long. My heat gun is the trick for me.
