By what I mean, a bow around 60"-64" long and when you look at it braced, it's really neither a recurve or a longbow, but can be called one or the other by those that see it. What do you all think about them?
I have a 58" Selway Lil Mag that I like a lot. I don't consider it a longbow, but it is a very good hunting bow. To me one of the big advantages of the hybred is good shootability and performance in a shorter design.

Personally, a Longbow should be exactly that. If you want something different, try a recurve. Maybe I am a purist, but Hill Styled Longbows are where its at!!
Look at the profile of this 60" bigfoot sasquatch talk about hybrid! (http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a606/cmlphelps/d8baf7dd-8974-4dbf-ad38-d9568cc17031_zps782e90ab.jpg?t=1392575826)
The hybrid long bow is still my best seller, and my personal choice for hunting.... All the advantages of a recurve in the energy storage, and smooth draw dept, with the push pull stringing advantage of the long bow.
I think they slide through the brush much easier than a recurve does too.

My Kanati is my all-time favorite bow. Period!
Oh, I forgot to mention this. I only care to hear from those that like the design, as the title of the thread stated. If you like the hybred design speak up if you're a purist, type on a purist thread.

Mike, I love the design...enough that it is basically all that I own. However, 60" is max length for me! I started with a hybrid and see no reason to change. I only have a few bows compared to some of the diehards on here but....I'm pretty fond of the hybrids that I currently have and looking forward to trying a few more. :D

Mike,
I love my Thunderstick MOAB, which I would say is a hybrid design. However, my daughters say that their Maddog longbows are much cooler! :saywhat:
I currently have a 58 inch one piece longbow that is a RD type. It has longbow limbs with a medium recurve grip. I LOVE IT! It is everything I could want in a bow! The other big factor I like in this bow, is that it is completely dead in the hand after the shot. That is a huge factor for me and many other guys.
I actually looked the other day to see if you made that style bow since you have great prices and my daughter needs a bow.
The only thing that would improve my bow is if it had been offered in 62 inch length.
AND I LOVE THE FACT THAT YOU ARE WILLING TO SAY IT LIKE IT IS!

I built mine from a Binghams design, both the 1 piece and a 3 piece TD and I love the way they shoot! I really do believe it is the best of both worlds!
Steve
Oh, and I have a McCullough Griffin longbow if that counts.
I really like my two 60" Treadway Black Swamp hybrids.
......I believe they are considered Longbow hybrid if the string only touches the tips @ brace . If one was to be tech-no ..LOL
I have had a Mt Ash Longbow (hybrid) built many years ago . I went in Tracy's shop looking for a mild R/D for a back-up ;) Bow .
When he asked if I would like to try a bit of a mix between the recurve and longbow ...Hybrid .
Well after one shot .....I LIKE ;)
...Stable , quiet , fast , and good looking ...whats not to like eh ???
Like is a rather weak word for such a sweet shooting bow >>>-------------> (http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p106/riverwolf01/PhotobucketPics1383.jpg) (http://s126.photobucket.com/user/riverwolf01/media/PhotobucketPics1383.jpg.html) (http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p106/riverwolf01/PhotobucketPics1340.jpg) (http://s126.photobucket.com/user/riverwolf01/media/PhotobucketPics1340.jpg.html) (http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p106/riverwolf01/PhotobucketPics1070.jpg) (http://s126.photobucket.com/user/riverwolf01/media/PhotobucketPics1070.jpg.html) (http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p106/riverwolf01/PhotobucketPics901.jpg) (http://s126.photobucket.com/user/riverwolf01/media/PhotobucketPics901.jpg.html) (http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p106/riverwolf01/IMG_2030_1-1.jpg) (http://s126.photobucket.com/user/riverwolf01/media/IMG_2030_1-1.jpg.html) ......yep I like ;)
....Forgot the stats for those that have a need to know ;)
My Mt Ash Longbow (Hybrid) is 53#@28" and 62 1/2" !
Red Elm limbs , Osage riser with a slice of ebony .
she likes a 7 1/8---7 1/4 brace ;)
This is a Chastain Spike III 62" 56# @ 28. I totally agree with all the positives regarding this bow. Quiet, dead, smooth and good performer. The only negative about this bow is it is too heavy for me, my own fault. I think I'm gonna sell it but it is sweet! (http://i.imgur.com/kndqX0M.jpg?1)

I love my Kanati. Is it considered a hybrid? If so, then I love hybrids!
I love the hybrid design, especially the McCullough Griffin / Shrew design and they are my favorite longbow style now. I have owned traditional straight limbed and mild R/D designs but the hybrids seem to shoot with smoother and can be shot comfortably in a much shorter length than other designs, which can be a benefit in hunting situations.
Yes
chuckc
Like to build em and like to shoot em even more. Easy to point and shoot where ya look, with authority.
Cory
hybrid longbows are the best
I have a Hybrid and love it however I do not shoot it well, I thought it was probably lack of mass, however I have a few friends who say that the hybrids are more unforgiving to form issues. Do not know if it is true but would be interested in what others think.
I love the hybrids. In fact I just designed a new one for the Steppe Eagle belly mount riser. Now I can have either a hot belly mount hybrid or a static recurve on the same riser. Finishing the first one cept they ordered two sets of hybrid limbs instead of one of each. LOL. Can' blame em. The hybrids rock big time .
God bless, Steve
Thanks for the info. I've made only one, and it turned out sort of decent and was considering adding it to my line up. But, it looks like the bow market already has enough hybrid makers. I'll have to give it some thought.

I was going to get recurve limbs on my bow but liked the hybrid limbs so much I order the second set the same except for weight.
Mike,
I know a number of guys make hybrid styles. I would still strongly consider making a hybrid with several handle styles if you can.
Your prices are lower than many competitors and that may well give you an edge other bowyers do not have.Think of all the customers you are missing by not offering it.... Especially if you can get it dead in the hand. Many people make them, only a few make them well.
.....If your gonna make bows , I would definitely add a well thought out and tested Hybrid to the lineup !
Hell , I think a bowyer could make a Great go of it with just one design , if its a great design....Hybrid ;)
Mr. La Clair seemed to do pretty well ;)

That's a good lookin bow...who is the bowyer?...great plains?
I love that type of bows!
About all I care to shoot.
Big fan of hybrids.
Bill
Have a couple Hummingbirds and a Morrison hybrid longbow. Seem to shoot a recurve better on 3-ds, but still keep going back to the longbows because of the look and feel of shooting a hybrid. Shot some of the Hill type [D shape] longbows and will pass on them. One opinion, Roy
Love hybrids, Big Jims TC comes to mind. Boy I like the strung profile of that bow.
LOL

Thats all I shoot>
Love my hybrid, sasquatch takedown. As was said earlier best of both worlds.
My bow of choice is a 64" hybrid
Count me in the number that  like.
You caught that T Folts didn't you?
I see it all the time, there's thread posted on a subject and there's always somebody that has to pipe up about how they don't like/don't approve/don't use/ think it's wrong...Etc.
There comes a time, (I know it's really hard to believe) when we only want to know about a specific subject, and honestly couldn't care any less, about opinions from those that can't read and understand specific instructions.
(Too many years in the military I guess)
I like to shoot them all, but if I had to pick just one...a hybrid would be it.

It is a Real McCoy from Andy McCoy of Bezaleel Bowworks in Tenino, WA. He doesn't show that model on his site but definitely still makes it. He is a fine craftsman but like most of us not an internet guru so it never got added.
Thanks Bear Heart...That has some great looking lines to that profile.
Often wanted to try one of his bows.
I like to think that I like other designs just as much but at the end of the day I'll probably only ever shoot a hybrid.
Never owned one till I got a Sasquatch ............. WOW!
Love it!
Hybrids for me Mike.
I have 3 hybrids and like them just fine. I don't have trouble switching between the different types of bows and enjoy them all. My Super Shrew and my JD Berry Yahweh will likely always stay in my lineup because they are great shooting bows. I'm still out to lunch on the Kustom King Black Forest though.
Really like my MOAB.
I have an Omega delta longbow which I love!
love my Osprey!!!62" love it :archer2:
My Caribow Peregrine hybrid longbow is one of the bows I will never let go. 62 inches, light as a feather, very smooth draw, exceptionally fast, death quiet and very forgiven. The grip, which was custom made by Abe, fits my hand like a glove and the thumb stud secures it even more.
Put that together with the great craftmanship of Abe and you have a bow that is hard to improve. I found out that it takes quite a beating too!
.....Like the lines on that Osprey !
I like Hybrids Mike.
They are my favorite style of bow to shoot! I have had two 60 inchers and one 56 incher on the way.
I have had two, a Centaur and a Kanati. Great bows! Hope to give a Sasquatch a go some day.
You might say I like them also-Hummingbird Kingfisher, RER Vortex, and Lost Creek Envy. Recurves gathering dust.
I like'em!
I love hybrids. Better performance than more traditional longbows, but way easier to make than a recurve. I agree with others, when hunting I think they go through the brush better than a recurve. Used a recurve last year for the first time, it seemed to snag every bit of brush I walked by.
I will never part with my MOABs..
Hybrids are my favorite.
In my opinion, some go too far to the recurve side so the string touches or vibrates on the belly side of the tips after the shot.
I dislike it when that happens..not from a purist point of view, but from a "no additional silencing required" point.
Never give up my 2 Kanati's.
I really like the stability, forgiveness, and quietness of the hybrid, but you still get plenty of speed.
I love 'em! Way less hand shock than a 'pure' longbow and easier on this old man's joints! I like a little more mass in the riser than a hill style but not as much as a take down.
I like them all!
Jasper2, would you mind identifying the models in your picture?
Thanks
I have a Belcher Patriot which I like a lot. It's about as much a hybred as one could be.
Hey jasper 2 .. i like the idea on your bow rack..that way u will run outta wall before u run outta bows..a man can't have too many toys..
I love my Royal Crown, made by Ron King of Fox Archery. I would have to say it is one of the nicest bows I have ever held in my hands.
I love my black widow PL and my tomahawk diamond series ss
I like them. They are tested and proven to perform.
I shoot a Thunderstick MOAB 60" 62#@27" I pull 63#+
60" Hoots.
So forgiving and easy to control after the shot.
Love em.
The ones I've shot have been great. Pretty fast, low to no hand shock, and easy on the eyes. I really like the profile of a Hybred bow. I am just starting on a slow assemble of my dream bows. Among my list are two bows that are Hybreds. A Big Jim Buffalo bow and a Thunderstick MOAB.
Hopefully I can get them sooner rather than later. Might have to do some OT!!
Hybrid lover here.
Most of the bows I build are longbows with varying amounts of r/d giving them a hybrid look. I really enjoy them!
Perfect hunting tools. The only time I consider bows of other design it's strictly a matter of esthetics. A Griffin is hard to beat for me.
If it will shoot an arrow I like it
