How many arrows do You carry in the field when hunting Big Game & what kind of quiver?
I take 3 Arrow's with me when I go hunting.. I just made up 4 sets of 3 arrows all different finishes. I'll post pic's later. I also have a med back quiver I got from Cabela's
Tough question.
I have been taking one of Mike's pocket quivers. It will hold four arrows tipped with 2 blade Zwickies.
Two are razor sharp for big game and two are "target" dull for small game.
It seems to work for me now but I am always changing.
I will carry 3 sitka spruce arrows tipped with 125gr eskimos and one tipped with a judo, all in my catquiver
i use a bow quiver and usually carry at least 4-6 arrows... 4 boadheads and 2 judos..
I get nervous with less than 5. (Don't make me tell you why, LOL!) I like 7 or 8 or even 9 broadhead arrows, and often another couple of blunts or so.
I figure it's just as easy to carry a bunch of arrows as it is to carry even 2 or 3, so I'd rather be overprepared on the majority of my hunts (or at just adequately prepared on some...)
5 broadheads and 1 judo tipped flu flu for the blue grouse I see when elk hunting. Getting a grouse for dinner in camp really makes for a great day!
I usualy have about a dozen arrows in my backquiver when I'm hunting :archer:
I use both a bow quiver (on my Kota) and a side quiver (with my Mahaska), so it depends on the bow.
Usually 6 arrows because that's what my bow quiver holds. One or two judo/blunts and four broadheads. I can't imagine shooting more than four broadheads in a day, but stumps, squirrels, rabbits, etc. mean I might need more than one judo.
I carry 4 in a GN bow quiver with one hex blunt. Always figured in I couldn't do it in 4 arrows I should just go home :0) dino
I carry 6 arrows....
4 Broadheads and 2 Ace Hexheads.
I carry the Arrows in a Bohning bow Q I made into a GFA style side Q.
I have a Thunderhorn 6 arrow boa that just feels great on the bow. I have been shooting it on the bow since I got it in June for fathers day.
Love my kids, makes me smile everytime I use it.
Josh
Depends on the situation & conditions but usually a side quiver filled purely for convienience-sake. That means usually 6-8 arrows; one judo and the balance broadheads. I particularly like the side quiver for treestand hunting.
For spot & stalk I like a bow quiver. I have both a Thunderhorn limb bolt and a Selway quick detach model. Five broadheads + a judo in these...
i carry 6, 4 with broadheads 2 with judos. never have liked a bowquiver for some reason. use a O.L. Stalker made by Art Vincent.
Depends on the bow I take. on a recurve I have a bow quiver usualy 4 in it but I end up flinging at squirrels etc when I do that. The selfbow I take 2. I use a handmade solo stalker type quiver or a back quiver I made.
5 arrows in a bow quiver.
3 broadheads, 1 blunt, 3 squirrel arrows, 1 flu flu. Jawge
3 broadheads and a couple field tips for practice from the tree.
4 broadheads and a judo,plus a file and steel
Four; 3 B.H and 1 Judo.
In 51 years of bowhunting there was only one time I needed more than 3 broadheads. That was in 1962 when it took 5 shots and 4 hits to kill a deer. I'm a better shot today :D so I only carry 4 arrows, 3 broadheads and a Hex Head, either on the bow or a side Stalker quiver. http://www.shrewbows.com/

I'm the same as Ron 3 broadheads and 1 hex head.
When I hunt from the tree I carry the bow quiver and then take it off in the tree. HUnting froim the ground I carry a side quiver.
OK You drop one getting set up out of the treestand
You miss the deer and it stays around
You hit it the second shot but it runs away and later you trail it and it is bedded down and needs a put away shot...
that is four.
But if you climb down and retrieve the one that dropped and the one that missed you could get away with a minimum of 3 arrows.

I usually carry 6 broadheads & one Ace Hex Blunt in a bowquiver converted to a GFA style quiver. Frank
3 or 4 broadheads, and 1 or 2 flu flus in a modified back quiver (I added a rail at the top and foam in the bottom so they don't clank around).
4 in a selway for me
Depends. Right now deer aren't open yet but squirrels and groundhogs, etc. are so I'm carrying two broadheads and four ace hex heads. As soon as deer season starts here, that ratio will flip for me.
BOA quiver. 3 Sharpened broadheads, 1 practice broadhead for squirrel or coon and 2 hex heads for in case of grouse. ;)
MW... hey dude! Might want to reconsider on that pocket quiver!!!!! Those things aren't made for broadheads and could be a nasty accident waiting to happen.
Please think about that for a while and make another choice.
It depends on where I am at. If I am just gonna hunt on my place I carry one,If I drive to another place about four, and if I was to travel (dream on) I'd prolly bring about two dozen.
I carry four broadheaded arrows and one judo or hex blunt. I shot tapered cedar shafts, but the judo and hexblunts are parallel ash shafts. They are a little tougher when shooting at stumps and small game.
4 broadheads + 2 blunts or judos
I carry five in an old green Bear quiver on my TD-one of them is usually a judo. I carry four in Bear leathertops on my Super K and Saxon Kadiak-all broadheads then. Grant
I try to carry 3 broadheads and 1 or 2 blunts in a bow quiver.
I carry two for deer, two for turkeys, and at least one small game/blunt/ The small game one has been used to scare a skunk off before he entered my ground blind, to scare the bejesus out of chattering red squirrels, and even on occasion, to take a shot at a rabbit or squirrel. When the seasons overlap, you've got to be ready for anything!
4 broadheads and 1 blunt in a GN bow quiver.
Three broadheads, if I ever need more than that I'm giving up.
i only had two yesterday... I needed three.
4 Broadheads and a blunt/Judo/Hex ride in my Selway...
3 with razorheads
2 in a homemade hipquiver
1 in my hand
A side quiver full of squirrel arrows and a couple arrows with stone broadheads in case a dang deer gets too close.
I'm using a Cat 2 quiver. It holds 6 arrows because I like to shoot mutiple times at my deer. :banghead:
Great Northern strap on or a beautiful side quiver made by Gray Buffalo. 3 arrows because that's all I have that match up with my osage recurve selfbow.
God bless,Mudd
fyi... I absolutely hate building arrows...lol
I voted four as that is what I carry deer hunting, I carry a lot more small game hunting. 1 judo and 3 broadheads. I like my boa quiver as well. Shawn
