Title: Jo Jan set up ???
Post by: wisconsinteacher on February 13, 2014, 08:27:00 PM
I have a quick question about setting up my JoJan for 4 fletch.  The way I see it, I will get arrows that have them looking like + and I would like them to be like this, x.  The nocks for these arrows are glue on, so how do I go about setting things up to get them like an x not +?  Do I try to fletch them with the nocks not glued on then when they are done, glue them?  How would I make sure that they stay at a perfect 90 degrees doing that?

Thanks

Fletch em, take the nocks off and rotate

Use just a tiny bit of Duco applied with a toothpick to hold the nock in place while fletching and then twist it off and re-cement where you want.

Remember it has to end up with the groove perpendicular to the grain when re-glued in the final alignment.

The arrows are aluminum so no grain to worry about.

If I'm not mistaken Jo Jan has different nock receivers for the four fletch...

One is a 4 X 90 degree which looks like the +

Then there is one that is 75 degree and 105 degree which makes the X...

Here's a link describing it from the JoJan site

If you want an x with the 75/105 degree angles then you should use that specific nock receiver.

If you want an x with a 60/120 degree angle then you can use the nock receiver for three fletch 120 degree.  Just put two feathers on then rotate the shaft and use the same two settings, never using the third setting (the cock feather setting doesn't get used if I remember right).  This is how I do mine and I get good flight and fletch clearance from the shelf of my recurve.

my jo-jan has 3 fletch on one end of the nock receiver--and 4 fletch on the other end
pull the receiver out flip it around and its a 4 fletch--good luck

They do make two different nock receivers though.

1 is 4X90 one is 75X105. You used to be able to order them from the company.

bamboo is correct about flipping them around.

yep..
but they are set up to do the "X" configuration of 90˚. It's 90˚ but not this " +" way...45˚ off.

FWIW.. I shoot 4 fletch at 90˚.
I started doing "+" configuration with a cheap jig.
Picked up a jojan which does 90˚ in the " x" config.
....I was worried the arrows wouldn't fly right....I saw NO difference.

Aside from that don't they sell adjustable nocks for Al?
uni-bushing or something?
