I am getting ready to make a Quiver and would like some real bear claws. I don't know if they are illegal to have. If they are forget this post if not can someone point me in the right direction to get a couple.
Thanks

Robert,
I've several claws (black bear) that I saved when I didn't tan a hide. Smaller bruin but I'ld be glad to send you 2-3, they're just laying around here. PM me with an address and would love to see the finished product.
Best regards,
Todd
P.S. Don't know about any regs that might apply there in CA

very much appreciated....

I was under the impression that selling bear parts was illegal. Has something changed?

You'll find bear claws on a bear ;) . I think its best to adorn your quivers etc. with items that you yourself have harvested, there's way better mojo going on.

Until you get one (some) on your own try these. No laws to worry about.

as long as there is no payment there is no issue. even trading is legal. I could send you some as a gift with out worry.

In Michigan selling parts of harvested animals is illegal BUT selling craft items made from harvested animals is just fine. Wrap a piece of felt around them so they can tied on to a quiver, etc. and now they're craft items! For a while, selling full length wild turkey feathers was illegal, but it seems they've lightened up (or perhaps been enlightened) 'cause now it's OK. It was always OK to sell chopped feathers 'cause they were craft items. The key is to add some labor to the item so it's not just taken from the animal and sold. I suspect that the craft loophole would work anywhere. Not sure, just a guess.

Sorry, but you live in California. It is illegal to buy and sell bear parts.
