Title: Bear Takedown Grips
Post by: stick33 on February 10, 2014, 12:42:00 PM
For those who have handled many different wood risers, which grips are comparable to the type 1?

I've heard the green stripes were narrow grips, but haven't confirmed. I have a brown stripe which is narrow. I've heard the Bubinga is narrow as well. How about the Dymondwood or any other that is comparable to the type 1? I love that grip, and would like to get another handle that is similar.

I've also seen guys put leather wraps on the narrow grips to beefen them up a bit. That may be an option as well. Thanks guys.

I think the type 1 s are usually  a little thicker in the throat and also the shelf is a little higher. I think the greenstripers are similar to the 90-2000 era risers(grey and brown)  . From the few newer risers I have shot, they kinda fall in between but closer the the thinner greenstripes. The type 1 s are definitely beefier. I have used the leather "saddle" with two sided tape

Yeah, that's too bad. My hand really fits well around the type 1. Might have to get a grip for the newer models. Anyone else have any experience or knowledge here?
