I'm interested if Canadian residents can do a OTC -DYI hunt for Javelina in Arizona (or any other state). How much tags would be? What the requirements are? What areas are best? Is there a hunting ed test? can you camp on state land and what the requirements are? anything else a couple guys might need to know.
Look up Doc John - Missouri Sherpa on here, sponsor - Mule Creek Outfitters -has great Texas leases, very affordable do it yourself hunts with Bunk house and accomodations included, good hogs and javelina.
Texas. A 5 day license for non residents is $48 for javelina and small game. You will pay access fees, but it is much easier than going through the Arizona process.
I hunted an area with a non sponsor here near Ft. Stockton, but as stated above, Missouri Sherpa has hunts, as does Mahaska, who are sponsors here.
I would like to do spot and stalk hunting! I was not sure if this was an option in Texas.
What is the limit on them in Texas?
Where I went, there was a 2 javi limit. Hummer, spot and stalk can be possible in Texas, although they do love their corn feeders.
I don't know the current Regs but I would say Yes, no problem for you to hunt there in a DIY situation.
You can look up the AZ regs and also call them.

US laws are different than Canada as in you don't need a guide (like canada) to hunt the US if you are not a US citizen.
You would get an out of state license and and over the counter tag or put in for a draw only (LEH) tag.
Each State has different laws but if you have your Hunter number for Canada, etc you should be able to obtain a hunting license in the states, no problem.
I moved from the US to Canada - BC and all my hunting + firearms permits were transferable from the US to BC.
Camping: We camped on public / state land and it was free.
PS: My first bow kill was with a recurve was a Javelina in AZ.
The 10 day Javelina hunt was such a great time in so many ways.
Beautiful country. Glad I had a GPS...
