I have a new to me :banghead: & digging out.) I got to shoot bare shafts and found that a GT 1535 full length w gt insert(11grn)1 inch footing 2117(12grn)+ 175-200 fldtip seems to fly great. I double checked shooting bare shaft through paper at 6-10ft near perfict bullet holes. Time to fletch a few and tune. Anyone else use the above arrow combo? :campfire:
I shoot GT 1535 Trads out of my 45 pound recurves with D-10 strings at my 27-28 inch draw. They are cut to 29 inches and bareshaft tune best with 175 grain points. Looks like we are getting about the same results with our particular setups. :thumbsup:
I have had great results with 1535s up to about 50# at 28". No front loading etc. I drop nylon cord inside them to get the weight up a bit, fly great.

I honestly think the 1535 is overlooked by alot of shooters shooting in the 40s. Especially those with draw lengths 27 and under.

Same here. I use them full length for my 48 lbs recurves at my 29" draw. Standard insert and 100 grains point. Bows are center cut. I can hit targets on 65 yards with them, so there can't be much wrong.
I find them weak for my 45 pound bows, I have better luck with 3555's cut to 29.25 with a 50 gr brass insert and a 145 gr head. I get perfect broadhead flight and that is what I look for plus the fact I get the weight I want for good penetration on deer.
I've had good results with GT1535 in recurves of 35 to 45 lbs. so far. Will try it on 50 lb limbs when they come in. Also works well on a 42 lb longbow....Dave
Anyone every tried these shafts down to 30 lbs? My boy is shooting 24"@30# right now. Would love to find him some carbon shafts instead of just wood.
I have been shooting 3555s cut to 29" (for my 28" draw), with 200g up front and cord inserts, bringing the whole mess up to about 500g. This out of all my bows from 40-44#, most with some carbon in the limbs. Never occurred to me to go lighter in spine since these fly so well and I think at those bow weights I need as much weight in the shaft as I can get for penetration.
I use 1535's for all of my bow's, usually with a 100gr insert and 125gr. tip.
I have shot them cut down to 28" with a 100gr brass insert a 100gr screw on adaptor and a 160gr single bevel grizzly BH, flew perfect.
Draw poundage range from 45# to 54#.

Susan, this seems to be par with what i have experienced with 3555's my hunting arrows come out at 500 gr. I have tried to shoot 1535's with standard inserts and 100 gr points and they come out of the bow like a wet noodle.
This is good timing. I just got my bareshaft test kit in the mail yesterday and I've got a bunch of vintage Bear's I'm going to test the 1535's on, that are from 25lbs to 44lbs. I'll post some results in the next few days.
This maybe strang :scared: BUT full length 1535 with 200 up frount flying :archer: better than anything I've tryed. With 27 draw length the bow is at 42pounds. Bare shafts & fletched shafts all look great. I also get good flight out of my 52-55 pound bows with 3555 and 225 up frount on a 29 inch shaft. :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
I guess if you have a smooth release, you can get away with it, I get really good flight and some have 2 & 3" feathers !
Due to an injury I wanted to have a bow in lower poundage. I got a 64" Toelke Whip that is 44# @ 28". I am drawing a little under 28". I bare shaft tuned some GT trads 1535. Got them to tune perfect with standard insert and 150 gr up front, ended up with an arrow exactly 29" measuring from the string groove in the nock to end of arrow. I am using 4 four inch feathers and wraps from one stringer. They shoot exactly with my fleched arrow at 20 yards. I wanted to see what would happen with a recurve that is 48# @ 28" and the same arrow is WAY weak which is what I expected. For that bow I shoot GT 3555 or AD tradlites.
