Title: Glaucoma - Save your Hunting Vision
Post by: mike g on January 31, 2014, 10:45:00 AM
Recently I found out I have Glaucoma in my right eye....
There's no cure for Glaucoma, They can only slow it down.
So the key is early detection, So I'm asking all of my Trad Gang family to please get checked for Glaucoma once a year....
Glaucoma is sneaky, there's no symptoms until it's to late....
Again I ask, please get checked....
    Thank you....

Doctor caught mine about 15 yrs ago. One drop of medicine in each eye before bed, and no problems with peripheral vision at all.

Still see those bucks coming in out of the corner of my eye. Can't hit 'em, but I can see them.

Just made my annual appt at the VA eye clinic.  Never used to go yearly but since my hearing is going, my eye health has taken on the priority.

Mike I am an eyedoc and what they've told u is a little more doom and gloom it seems than what is exactly true. Pm me and I'd like to have a conversation with u if u want. Very true about getting annual eye exams as only 50% or so of the glaucoma present in folks is actually diagnosed. Either eyedocs miss it or folks aren't going for exams. Folks think bc they can see (many have no idea how much they're missing btw) that there is no disease. Most eye disease is sneaky and a lot of damage can occur before a complaint generates an eye appointment.

I have glaucoma in my right eye also. I have lost the upper peripherial vision in the eye. I take eyedrops in morning & evening and it is holding its own. Recently had cataract surgery in both eyes and can see better than ever in 45 years
There is no warning signs for glaucoma.  Protect your eyes, get a regular checkup

arrowlauncherdj....
I take 1 drop in the morning and two at night.
I have my pressure under control....
So I'm good, Slim chance that I will go blind in that eye, I just wanted to give everyone a heads up, so they will get a check up....
The VA caught my Glaucoma, I went in to verify a Cataract in my left and they surprised me with the Glaucoma, They took a picture of my optict nerve and everything....
And Dec 26th they removed my Cataract and put a new lense in, I see great now....

maybe this is the wrong place to say this but they have isolated cbg in cannabis oil and it is supposed to work better than the drug that is now usedfor it.

Been doing the eye drops for about 8 years now. all is well, it is controllable, just follow the docs orders and be faithfull with the treatment.

Been on the drops for several years, now a new doc wants to stop them for some reason, says I have thick corneas and may not need them, I am not gonna play with my eyesight, period, so gonna tell him, no thanks, just keep me on them. Besides the study he is quoating has been debunked.

Glaucoma has alot to do with eye dominants too..I got hit in my right eye with a rock when I was a kid..I am right handed and started shooting instinctively right handed and couldn't hit targets without compensating..tthen I found out I was left eye dominate because of that rock..I switched to left hand and now I shoot 20 times better..yes I have glaucoma in my right eye..doing the drops at night and holding my own..don't be afraid to change to improve your shooting..

Thanks for the reminder, mike g.

I went to the eye doc twice since your initial post. I'm "Glaucoma suspect", which means I might develop it.

Doctor told the story of a patient that she warned several times that he could develop it, but he didn't come back for 10 eyes and eventually went blind. Completely preventable, if he had used eye drops!

That's good Mudd.
That's the whole point of me starting this post.
It's a simple test, and detected early you may save your sight....

I did not mean people should stop taking their eye drops and do pot .I just thought I would mention it.I have an appointment to see my eyedoc and I would take the eyedrops if I had glaucoma.
