First blood!
My wife (and hunting partner), Silver Wolf (a.k.a. – Jennifer), finally scored with her new Schafer. A tree rat!!! After missing her turkey this fall (she shot just underneath), and with zero shots at a deer.... well, it's her first traditional kill!!! And yes, a head shot! And, yes... he was tasty (taste like Hardee's chicken)!!!
Long story kept short, the squirlzzzzzzes on our property have been chewing on my John Deer tractor. First it was the gas cap, and later I had an actual hole in my gas tank. Soooooo, open season on all tree rats!! (That is, during legal hunting times in Virginia).

:archer:
congrats !!! if they are chewing up a multi thousand dollar piece of equipment, they gotta go season or not.
Very nice. Congrats!!!
Congrats, big one! If that's all it has to eat I was expecting a more anorexic speciman. Do you suppose with all that green it thinks it's found the "mother of all acorns"? Is hunting over tractors considered ethical? I'm sorry, I'm sorry...as I've already pointed out I'm deeply depressed it's K-zoo weekend and I'm not there! I just need to back away from the keyboard....
Congrats! It may be her first, but it is a tough one to achieve! The next turkey better beware!!
Was that hole in the tank from a shot at one maybe?
Ron,
The chew marks usually are a good indicator of critters.

Good on you Jen!!!!
Hope to see you two at Dixie soon.

I know. We had a plastic garbage can on the porch for squirrel corn and they chewed right through it. We have a galvanized steel one there now and I hope they get zinc poisoning if they try chewing through that :)
Awesome!!! Well done!
AWESOME!
Hey there Dave and Jen! Great job! Hope all is well with you both. Missed ya two at Fort Lee yesterday. It was cold but it was a great shoot. Hope to see the both of you at the next shoot. Take care.

Nice shot.
Congatulations!!
Awesome, congrats. Come to Tidewater on Feb 2nd at Newport News Park!
I don't know what it is with squirrels and gas tanks. They chewed up the vapor recycling device on the gas tank of my truck twice! A 500.00 repair and won't pass inspection without it.
Anyway good Job!!
Jennifer, great going. The squirrel died in a noble manner-to a Silvertip.LOL
If you can nail a squirrel a turkey does not stand a chance.
David, hope you guys can make it to the STAR shoot in June.
Thanks, Roy

Awesome....you're a lucky man to have your spouse hunt with you! Great shot Jen!

Good shot.
YA.. NOW, GET OUT THE CROCK POT.
You're a lucky guy  ! We would all like our wives :notworthy: to take such an intrest :archer2: in our sport!!
Hammer time! :clapper: :clapper:
LOL. She's smiling as she reads the response from this thread. And, as you can see from the picture... she is beaming!
Thomas,
Yes, I know how lucky I am. She has made hunting very enjoyable.
I was able to take two deer this year, and she once again showed off her cooking skills. Yes, Joe Ashton, crock pot braised deer shanks! Yum!!!
Floyd, we hope to be attending the Ft. Lee and Dixie shoots next month.
SARarcher, we both do Rescue Squad duty every Sunday, so the Tidewater isn't in the cards.
cool, nice shot!
Duplicate post ... sorry.
Congrats!!!!
Congrats Jennifer, glad to see the Silvertip is working out! See you in Baltimore!

I love shooting and at squirrels. Congrats. Save the John Deere, shoot a squirrel. mike
Congrats!
You should see the smile/smirk on her face... as she reads all of your responses. Thanks guys!
The best part was that her son, his bride-to-be and her dad all saw the shot (from the kitchen window).
The son comes out of the house with a knife to "finish off" the squirrel. But instead, as he rounds the barn corner, there stands Jen (aka - "Mom") holding the critter (and her bow/arrow) just as you see in the photo.
Yup, she earned a few "respect for traditional archery" points that day!
Congratulations on the first kill!
nice shot!
Those guys are hard to hit.
As a tip
Set rat traps around your tractor baited with peanut butter.
Not as sporting...but effective!
when dealing with destruction of property, gloves come off.
Also if you have mice in the shed the "5 gallon bucket trap" works wonders.
Filled with used oil or diesel fuel preserves them so they dont stick up the joint.
No critter passes on a free meal, no matter the risk.
Congratulations to you both - it's great to have a hunting partner in the family!
