Title: My main souvenier from Trad Expo 2014
Post by: Bladepeek on January 26, 2014, 02:45:00 PM
Here are some pics of my new RER LXR. Kevin brought it with him to the show and I would have really been sick if I could not have made it down there.

The bow has some incredibly contrasty figured cocobolo and waterfall ash in it that match perfectly on both the 62" longbow limbs and the static tip 58" recurve limbs.

This post might interest Gator1. Mitch, eat your heart out    :D

The tips have some translucent phenolic (if there is such a thing) with cocobolo overlay. Looks almost like the inner layers of sheep horn, but I don't think it is. I'll have to check with Kevin on that. Mitch, if you want to see the rest of the pics, here's the link:

I told Kevin that I was really thrilled with my new bow. The woods worked together the way I was hoping they would. But, I also told him I could have walked away with any of the bows he had there and been happy with it. The man definitely has the touch!

I'm sure I will enjoy it Chad, and I have the right-hand Legend you built for me. I try to shoot from both sides each session and they should enjoy the same arrows.

Yeah, but I ordered it that way just so you right-handers would have something to knock about it.

Otherwise it would be pretty hard to fault   :)

Darned Ron, that just looks fantastic! Seems to me that is all ya need....
I read somewhere you make knives as hobby...any links?!?     :)   I used to be a knife collector, but these days all my money seems to disappear in the black hole that we call traditional archery...... :)   And yes, money talks, it always says "Goodbye!" to me....

As for the tips, I have the same translucent ones with wood overlay on my RER Vital. I checked with Kevin and it seems that he does it always like that. It are multiple glass laminations glued together if I remember correctly  and are nuke - proof.....
I can imagine the static tip design is more demanding on the tips, so my guess is Kevin designed heavy- duty tips to address that..

Thanks Ad, for the compliment and the info.

Of course it's all I need. I only plan on selling 3 of my other bows, though. Never hurts to have a few spares   :)

bentpole, I sure hope my luck is better this year. I never got a shot last year. It would be a shame not to be able to blood that bow.

I understand the spare plan. .... I have two spares. Thinking about buying some spares for the spares though.... Would that make me a sinner???   :dunno:

EDIT: wow, wow, wow! even though it is a bit light weight, i predict the dogfight of all time in the classifieds, should you ever decide to part with it!

perhaps a St. Jude's dogfight (which i would undoubtedly lose to somebody rich, hahaha!)
