Title: My New Horne's
Post by: Jeremy on January 21, 2007, 01:50:00 PM
Well, new to me anyway.  I "needed" a TD longbow for the upcoming TX Sweat so I sold my Massie Longhorn (you know, the one I said you could fight over after you pulled it from my cold, dead hand) and started looking for a good TD.

I found this one.  After shooting "Hope" I was real impressed with Mark's bows.  First thing I did when it got here was get rid of the rubber suregrip and replace it with a laced leather one.

Not bad, huh?
Purpleheart riser with bocote accents, bamboo limbs with osage veneers.  52# @28, 64" AMO

Nice and smooth with the great craftsmanship typical of a Horne's!

Think you might be able to kill a turkey or two with it Jeremy? Very nice.

Nice Jeremy, Horne's makes a pretty good product. See you in a few weeks.

I did a double take when I saw the picture of your riser. It could almost pass for a twin of my TD Mountain Recurve.

I just love shooting my bow as I'm sure you will too shooting yours.

Was wondering what part of Ct are you from. I frequently visit family in the New London area. My son and I do some shooting while up there and figure that there is room for another Trad Ganger.

Hey Jeremy - now that you have had a chance to shoot it a bit more - how does it compare with the Renegade??  If you had to grab one bow which would it be? (yes I know I shouldn't ask those either, or questions, but I just can't help myself) - LOL

Larry, I live about 20 minutes from New London, but work right next to it.  Next time you make the trip give me a shout.  There are a few other TGers around as well.

Sutto, tough choice, but I think I'd grab the Renegade.  This is a sweet shooting bow with impeccable craftsmanship, but there's just something about Dave's bows.

Shawn, I'll have it with me at the BH - OOOOOHHH YEAAAAHHHH!!

Hey Jeremy what's the go with the handle (grip) on your bow?  It looks as if it has been modified to a high wrist grip.  I had a look at the pictures of the mountain bows that Mark has in stock and my bow - and none of them look like yours does.

I sometimes think my bow would be better with a higher grip that would suit my style of shooting better.  However I prefer the look of the conventional grip that Mark has on all of the other bows.

Sutto,
yup it's a bit higher than I'm used to, but it's almost exactly the same as the 'Hope' bow that Mark donated (2pc TD brush bow)- and showed up at my door today!

Now THAT's a bow I'd reach for EVERYTIME.  I like the look of a 2pc better than a 3, and DAMN it's a smooth bow!  Exact same weight as my 3pc and it feels like it's 5# lighter!  I shot it some  back in September and loved it then.  I love it even more now!  I'll be talking to Mark at TX Sweat!  :D   If I'm not careful my bow rack will be full of Horne's!!
