A while back I picked up a used Lighning LB TD with a rather unique TD system. I was wondering if anyone was familiar with the system and/or knew how strong it is. The riser is a micarta or phenolic type material, very light, you can see the texture in a couple of the photos. I hope the photos speak for themselves.

That looks like a pretty cool system.
Nice bow!
Just curious...what's the length and poundage?
Very unique take-down system
I had a Lightning longbow built by, I think Gord Morey. It was a two piece take-down but the riser had aluminum inserts fastened to it and the two pieces would slide together and held with 2 countersink allen screws. A very solid connection joint. I'm sure I deleted the pics I had of it :banghead: It was a very fast longbow, it had the carbon faced limbs and vibration free.
That is definitely an awesome concept for a take down bow.
My bow is 62" 54@28.
It looks like the limb cores are Bamboo. How does it shoot? Does it have the bow makers name on it? Could it be Gord Morey?
The bow does have bamboo cores and was made by Gordy Morey. It's a great shooter.
Sweet Phil!...good find!
NICE! I keeping looking for another bow by Gordy, but have not had any luck. He made a great looking and shooting bow.
That is a pretty "groovy" looking TD system! Lol. Seriously, cool looking, though.
That is a interesting 2 pc design.
It seems to me that all the stress of this system is sent to both angle cut surfaces. Those surfaces stop the pieces from opening up.
The single pin acts as an alignment position only.
That's kind of my thought Joe, but since I've never seen another like it, I was wondering if there was a problem with it.
You might want to get hold of Leo Markert (longbowleo). He was instrumental in the design of the Lightening bow line.
I have a Moery 3-piece for sale at RMSG if anybody wants to see another Gordy Morey bow.
cool bow. looks similar to the t/d system thundernhorn uses.
