Well I had an earlier post about the Centaur "birthing", you can see those pics here-
http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=134827;p=3
Jim finished up and shipped the bow from MT on Thursday.... it arrived today (Saturday) in Jasper, Alabama... although the USPS got it here FAST the box was in 2 pieces, made me nervous, but no harm done!
The specs on the bow are 60", 51#@28", Curly maple limbs, bamboo and XTL core, Cocobola riser with black accents.
So far ive shot CE 250, 150, and GT 35/55 with from 175 to 250 up front and they all fly true out to 30 yards. Its amazing how spine tolerant the Centaurs are, at least in my experience. Ive settled in on the 150's cut to 30" with 175 up front.
The grip has subtle yet very purposeful contours all in the correct places, and the shelf is perfectly sculpted to get your hand nice and high. I opted for no finger grooves for a couple reasons, 1 is the best Centaur grip I have felt dindt have grooves, and it will also be easier to Wrap if I decided to go that route (thinking black beavertail).
Here are a few quick photos, I will try and get limb and profile pics tomorrow, Sun didn't cooperate today!

Beautiful!
Very nice!!
nice looking bow
A beauty for sure!!!! Congrats
Very nice! Congratulations!
Wow..!!! Awesome bow..!! A couple of months ago I received my new Centaur and the box was in two pieces also..!! Good thing Jim builds em' bulletproof...!!!
Matt
That is still steaming......
wow sers.... :saywhat: :saywhat: :saywhat:
Very nice bow, how does it shoot?
Awesome looking bow.
wow, that is a super looking bow! Congrats!!!
Gerry it shoots great! Had it dialed in at 30 yards just right.
There is always the question of bow length, and for me the 60" Centaur is perfect, as is the 62"... just like it a bit more compact for the woods. Ive had 2 58" Centaurs, and the 60/62 is just a better length for me. I draw 29 and the 60 FOR ME is noticeably smoother, and just feels "better".
Here are a couple more pics showing the tips and XTL lamination.

thats a beauty
If I am going to put a wrap on a bow I prefer something plainer for riser wood...I doubt you are going to be able to bring yourself to cover up that great Cocobolo grain
DDave
Matt,
What a beaut!!! Id love to shoot a Centaur! What is the limb width at the fades on this one?
Todd
Holy smokes Matt !!! That is one Sweet looking Centaur. Perfect specs as well !!! I know it will shoot just as good as it looks. Jim builds an Awesome shooting bow.
That's some wild coco bolo! Congrats on a beautiful bow.
That is beauty. Curly maple looks just right. with the coco.
Beautiful bow, Felicidades!
That handle wood is stunning, I knew it would be pretty but I didn't think it would look that good after seeing the birthing photos. Very nice!
Dang sexy
thanks guys, and its one of those that are "even better" in person. The Cocobola is actually much more vivid in contrast.
At first I wasn't sold on the stain of the Curly Maple, but after looking at it more... it just works with the Cocobola, and is a good color for my area of the woods for camo.
Todd the limbs are barley over 1" at the fades, best measurement is 1-1/16" on the shy side of the line.
I'd love to own a centaur. Beautiful bow all around! How does it compare to your Whips? Sounds like the limbs are near equally narrow.
Matt,
Another beautiful bow from Jim! We have so many bowyers that are outstanding and Jim is certainly one at the top.
You mention a possible beaver tail grip so if you don't mind here my last one with a Big Jim grip he did a great job matching the unique contours of the Centaur even with the groves.

Very nice
Very Nice stick, congrats!
That is a nice looking bow. Congratulations!
thanks again fellas, man... that beavertail looks great...
Nice, you are a lucky guy. Bue--.
Beautiful Bow!
gonna do some bare shaft tunning today. Got the Selway quiver on it now, really like the new strap system Selway uses.
Oh wow, beautiful Lamey.
Great looking bow ...BEST OF LUCK WITH IT!
Wow, 2 of my favorite woods. That coco is something special. Really nice!!!
just took it out and did some bare shaft tuning, with 175 up front the CE 150's (30") fly perfect, as do the 3555's, the 250s show a bit stiff but I kind of expected that if anything.
I stopped pretty quick as the 150s are just perfect at 30", and with 175 gr. heads they weigh in at 510 gr. which is perfect balance between weight and good long range flight etc.
I also want to add that bumping the brace from just at the 7" line to 7-1/4" made a big difference in silencing the bow. This along with the Selway strapped on the bow have really put it in that REALLY quiet bow category.
Congrats on a beauty of a bow! That Coco is really sweet!
Great looking bow.How long was the wait?
Man that turned out fantastic!
-Jay
As always, Jim knocks it out of the park. Great looking bow, Matt. Congratulations.
Striking!
Oh my! Look at that slender figure!
Looks like a wolf sporting supermodel clothing!
Fine Centaur...Congrats!!!
thanks again fellas... I cant remember the exact wait time, but the current time is 10-12 months.
Awesome looking!!!
 :notworthy:
Way to go Matt. Very nice indeed.
if I can make some time I may actually get into the woods today. These Centaurs are addicting, already figuring how I want my next one made.... I have some super nice Ziricote.... thinking a Chimera XTL or Triple carbon.
with Selway-

That sure did turn out SWEET !!!
Bill
Lamey,
That is a pretty one!
I viewed the photos again and I have to say I am torn. A beavertail grip would look great but covering that great wood would be a crime. Good luck Matt, better your decision than mine!
SO NICE. What a beauty. Jim has done it again and just keeps cranking out functional artworks that SMOKE an arrow. I'm a Centaur fan for life. You are absolutely right, the Centaurs are very very forgiving of arrow spine.
yeah... think im going to keep this one "bare" without grip. Been shooting it more, really a fun bow to shoot, as they should be!
All I can say is........WOW!
Crap, just when I think I am done buying bows, a beauty like this comes along. Really like the looks of the grip. Guess I better do some homework and find out more about these bows.
There are very few bows on my bucket list, but Centaur is one of them. That one is stunning, and my vote is for the beavertail.
