Title: Glue for broadhead adapters?
Post by: britt on January 17, 2014, 08:51:00 AM
What glue is best for broadheads adapters? I am using Ace broadheads and aluminum adapters. Thank you.

I prefer JB weld as I want the strongest bond possible and it has a long working time to make sure it's perfectly aligned.

Britt,
I have always used hot melt and never had any problems.

I use a 2 part epoxy , the stronger an slower curing, the better. This way I have never had one come loose, lost several with hot glue.

JB weld and 2 part epoxy both work well, problem I'm having is the aluminum adapters break constantly.  They just don't seem to be made as well as they were years ago.

I agree, one of the many reasons I went to higher head weights....steel inserts or if you need something in-between the titanium ones. Both are pretty much as tough as the head itself.

I always use hot melt.  Never had any problems to speak of.  I have had some get a little tweaked after killing, but a little heat and a spin and we're good to go again.  I have some Zwicky Delta 4 blades that have been mounted and killing for 10+ years.

I've used Devcon 2 part epoxy and JB Weld both with excellent results. Be sure and clean the inside of the broadhead and the adapter, I use acetone. You can sand the inside of the broadhead with sandpaper also if its dirty or to roughen it up a bit.

I use an industrial strength low temp hot melt glue that I get from a local business here. Never had a problem with it.

JB Weld and STEEL inserts.  I've heard too many stories of broken aluminum inserts for me to be willing to risk it.  Of course, with JB Weld, you're somewhat committed to a permanent solution.
