It was a warm day and I was checking activity around a couple of my stands...be careful where you step!

Copperheads are hard to see. Luckily, a bite while unpleasant is unlikely to be fatal.
He would make a great backing for a bow!
How many are in the picture? I think I see two.
4
4?!
Looks like a pile of leaves to this Northerner.
I'd need a Zoom-in to see any.

I'm with Tom, I would have walked right over them. Not used to looking for critters like that up here.
I do like the look of Copperhead skins on a bow though... :saywhat:

Well, I see three for sure, and there may be a forth there. Man, was it a den, or a breeding group.
Sneaky little buggers. I've had more close calls with copperheads than any other, just so darn hard to see.
Wade, you checking hog stands out there, or are you still after deer?
Tim
I see 3 for sure. When did you take this picture? With all the cold weather we've had in Texas I'd have to think it was taken in October or November.
Sorry but I'm just not a snake person. Copperheads and rattle snakes give me the willy's.
All I see is some nice limb skins
OMG! Talk about camo.......
Love the way they look :scared: PERFICT bow camo LOL :archer: :biglaugh:
We had a week in December that they come out here in N. Bama. Beautiful animal. Cotton mouths on the other hand I can do without.
Now THATS camo!!!
Think I see four, too many.
I see 3 sets of eyes for sure. May be a 4th left of the top one.
I saw just two. In college, we went spelunking in Nov. and found ourselves in a copperhead den. We backed out and came back with the herpetology geeks. They pulled 27 adult copperheads out of that cave. It was the "wind cave" in Lancaster PA about 1989. Since then, I've seen exactly 1 copperhead in the field. About 5 years ago at Lock 12 on the Susquehanna.
I would love a jacket and pants in a copperhead pattern!!
Well at first I only saw two. But, after looking closer(and reading where people were seeing 4) I definitely see 3 and maybe a 4th one.
Way too early in the year to see any snakes in KY.
:-(
It would be great if I could see any at all.
The responses are spot on guys....Tim...I was checking my stands in October after work and it was hot and I had flipflops on. I have deer and hogs and lots of both. I saw one cross the road and walked up where he went and there were a pile of them. I wanted the skins but only dispatched one because it was dark and I didn't know how many more were behind me. It was a creepy feeling when you see the leaves moving. They won't kill you but a friend got hit on his big toe by one last year and he had 2 weeks of brutal pain.......2 weeks! I get them all of the time as I seem to have the perfect habitat for them. Those are all Broadbands and are beautiful on bows but hard to find them big enough. These were all large as the one that I killed was 30 inches. By the way....There were 4 that I could see when I took the pic. The 5th was on the outside and I got him and only the good Lord knows how many were really there.
Wowser! I see three. I don't think I would have hung around there long enough to take a pic, especially if I was wearing flip-flops!
Bisch
3 anyways.....
Very cool snakes, I love their natural camo. Find them very docile and not at all wound up like a lot of rattlesnakes.
I live in one of those lucky places that doesn't get ticks or snakes. Two years ago I killed a copperhead in my back yard. I've lived here my whole life (54 years) and it was the first one I ever saw.
I am not really afraid of snakes, but I sure wouldn't want to be hanging out right there.

Yikes. I see 4. Cool snakes any way.
The joint is lousy with em
They sure do look good on a bow. Anyone ever eat a copperhead? I hear rattle snake is pretty good.
I've eaten rattlesnake and it was very good. I have also heard that any snake is good eatin' but I've only heard of people eating rattlers first-hand.
I believe I'd try it, should I get the chance to kill another copperhead.
I see 34 ;) :p
Neat looking snakes!
I see a hospital bill most of us can`t afford. They say a snake won`t mess with you unless you mess with him but had you stepped on that pile while walking you woulda been in some trouble. Don`t like`m.RC
I've got a terrier that goes and and finds the lil devils, drags in a couple every year. First one about killed him but now he seems immune except the gland under his neck swells up. It's almost like he enjoys the bite. My wife says it may be the shot of shine I pour down him to help with the pain afterwards but I don't think so.
I like 'em best like this.....

3 FOR SURE
If Schwake wasn't such a wuss he would have given all of em to me to back bows.

Ever time I look I see more! :scared: My name is Tim and I'm scared of snakes!
That pic just creeps me out. :dunno:

X2
Man, I don't like those buggers! There would have had to have been a snake killin!
LD
It was creepy. Especially at night and I had the flashlight in my mouth and pair of flipflops on and I thought I just hit the mother lode of skins but I had nothing to kill them with.
flip flops? dude, your just asking for it
This is why I don't live where they have these things. I can't see a snake in the picture. Maybe I just need new glasses. I think I will just stay up north where they are scarce.
Gives me the heebyjeebys
