Looking for a source for good quality wool pants.
Would like them to have cargo pockets camo or non-camo okay.
justin
this place has pretty good prices http://www.ccsutlery.com/store/wool-coats-jackets-pants.html
Filson and LL Bean each offer nice wool pants. Filson's have cargo pockets. Of course, the camo stuff from KOM and Gray Wolf also have cargo pockets. A little pricier though.
Tim,
Thank you my friend. This is what I am looking for.
justin
Thanks Orion. I am trying to stay away from the really expensive stuff.
sportsmen guide has wool pants find them under military surplus cheap
X2 on the Spirit Horse site-CCSutlery. I picked up a pair of cargo pants a couple of years ago-they are great.
Sportsman's Guide is great, when they have surplus wool.
Phil, do you know what wool the your pants are?
Cabela's has a sale on their Legacy wool cargo pants right now; I bought a pair last year, and they are very nice; Really nice for the price of the sale.
What centaur said X2.
Always worthwhile to check out the local Goodwill store. Can sometimes find some very nice wool garments there at extremely good prices.
Walt,
If you mean weight, no, I'm not sure of the weight. They are soft and comfortable, the best I can do. They are very nice folks and will work with you, give them a buzz.
21 oz. says the website
Justin.. where ? It says that for the vests and coats, but I don't see that on the pants. BTW, their vests look great too !
Hmmm

You should also check out the Stormy Krommer web site. Ive got a pair of their pants and also hats. The pants are real comfortable and wear like iron. Been abusing a pair for 4 years now and still look new. Down side is they are not cargos.
Never thought about that but will check them out now. Home from work (waiting for the mailman)!!!
I saw 21 oz on the coats. I guess I just assume pants were same. I spent about 30 minutes talking to the guy today and he told me that the pants and the coats are made from the same wool.
justin
On Teresa Asbells' site 21-24 oz wool is lasted as "heavy weight".
Army Navy Surplus Stores, etc. I have several pair of the German felted wool pants, cargo pockets w/button fly :)

My favorite pants since 1996. Love em.
I know they aren't cheap but I love the First Lite Kanab merino wool pants. Worked great all season including elk season temps. I layered with merino wool underwear and wore them through whitetail season in Wisconsin
Look at Day One Camo
Just ran across this thread and checked out the Spirit Horse site. Looks to me like good stuff. Why are the prices so reasonable? I like a good deal, but am always cautious as to the why. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks.
No idea why they're so reasonable. I've got 2 pair of their wool pants and can't find a thing wrong. Great deal on some great pants.
Thanks, Selfbow. Sounds like it is worth checking out.

I don't know where they come from but wherever it is, no short people live there.
Inseams start at 35"
Pants with 28-34" inseam are listed separately from pants with 35-40" inseams.
Google Woolrich Malone pants.
I have a pair I started wearing as a teen in the north woods of Wisconsin. I recently picked up a like new pair from a fellow Tradganger. Best all around wool pant IMHO. I like the charcoal grey with pin stripes
Army surplus M1951 wool pants,new, for $19.95: http://www.armysurpluswarehouse.com/featured/m1951-wool-field-pants.html
get the suspenders for the pants, $2.95
The wool is tightly woven and high quality.
I also just bought an Army Korean war wool shirt (80% wool, 20% nylon),new, for $19.95. This shirt is heavy weight and can be washed.
Those military guys must have been short cause Ive never seen a pair of those surplus pants that have a long enough leg. Nice pants, just short in the leg.
Eric
hello fellow bowman -- I have wool pants planned for fall 2014 - I have some photo's of the samples -- first, will be a nice olive green to match my jackets - they will have brown cargo pockets - brown knee pads, brown trim over the back pockets -- and a extra thick gusset for the crouch -- ( this is usually where pants wear out -- or get thin) also adjustable waist - for when you grow !!! :) )
Lets say you are a 36 inch waist - when buttoned - when you use the other button - it becomes a 38- you always need more room for tucking in hevier clothing -- bigger is alwys better--
Price-- if you want the VERY VERY best --
Guys it all depends on how much wool I purchse - how many I sew - remember these pants have two colors - I like to do something different--
Weight is 20-21 ounce-- but they feel heavier -- I suggest suspenders -- !
I will post soon--

I've been real happy with the Cabela's Wooltimate pants. They're warm, quiet, and have the large cargo pockets. they are a blend of wool and fleece. I also have the jacket and vest. In fact, I'll probably have them on first thing in the morning.
I'd love to see a preview of your wool pants offering Rob!
