Title: Chippewa Archery
Post by: SELFBOW19953 on January 13, 2014, 03:00:00 PM
I was curious if anyone knew who their bowyer was.
I have a catalog from them listing their address as

Chippewa Archery, Inc.
PO Box 10 BLDG 346
Kinchloe, MI

Since a building number is listed, I assume they were on Kinchloe AFB.  Their catalog lists several other brands of bows they sold (H. Hill, Bear, J. Hill, York).  They have been out of business for sometime now I believe.

I have 2 of their longbows, both are straight limb, maybe a little backset, one with a conventional grip, the other a reverse grip.
The reverse handle bow I bought used close to 20 years ago-killed several deer with it.  The one with the conventional grip I picked up a couple of years ago from someone who bought out the remaining stock-new old stock-from the owner's granddaughter (at least that's what I was told). While nothing fancy, the construction is good and the bows shoot good, but the finish on the conventional grip bow is not so good-maybe never "finished"???.

I visited their shop many years ago(more than 20) and you are correct, their shop was located on the old Kincheloe AF Base.  Looked at a couple of longbows but I was a recurve shooter back then.  Seem to recall they looked like good bows.
