Title: Muzzy Phantom 220,no more??
Post by: BUCKY on January 13, 2014, 09:25:00 AM
I've had trouble finding these and they are no longer listed on their site! Are they no longer being made?

Muzzy was bought out by the company that  makes the Rage head. I believe they discontinued the 220. They make and sell the Fred Eichler Phantom which is 150....you would need a 75 gr. insert to make 225.

I was sad to see these go too, they have been great for me! I always got great penetration.
I have 7 heads in excellent/sharp condition if you are interested. 3 are still in the box.

Yeah the sales numbers were just not there to keep the head going as well as the Eichler head, it has been discontinued for this year as well.  We still are carrying the standard Phantom 100 and 125gr heads and have our new Phantom SC heads in 100 and 125gr weights which will be my go to head to use this year.  Sales numbers dictate product availability and without adequate sales a company can not afford to continue to offer a product that just does not move enough volume.  Thanks

I know a lot of trad guys like those heavier heads, but I just prefer inserts to add weight... I told myself when I switched to trad that wanted to shoot "normal weight" heads so I could step into any pro shop meant for wheely bows and buy heads. I didnt wanna have to wait on shipping to go hunting. Brass inserts or regular inserts and some brass screws are what I'd rather spend my time on.  There's arguments for simplicity both ways. To each his own.

Ill say that trad stuff is gonna get harder to find from these big corporations as our economy continues to suck bc niche markets are not profitable any ore for most things.  It's the same way in contact lenses now. I've had to switch folks out of lenses they've had for a decade just bc they don't make them anymore or offer narrower parameters bc of economics

Yep we are owned by Feradyne Outdoors and are under their corporate umbrella along with several other companies.  The Musacchia's are no longer involved with the company.

I don't think they are going to be making the Eichler head for 2014.
