way to reduce the spine on aluminum arrows?
I have an aortic aneurism and as a result was told not to shoot my heavy bows. So had to drop from my 68-70lb bows to a Quillain canebrake at 48 lbs
I still have 40-50 (maybe more) full length 32 inch 2216 shafts
I use bear razor heads which I think are 145 grains with the screw in inserts.
My draw is 28-29 inches
So my question is... can I buy some kind of heavier inserts that would allow me to use the 2216s with my weaker recurve? I can leave the arrows full length if that helps.
IF so who sells them and what weight do you guys think would work well.
I rarely take shots over 20 yards, most of them are probably 15 yards or less so I am not concerned with trajectory issues just want a quiet nicely tuned arrow.
thanks
Thanks
Those inserts should have a hole in the back to screw in more weight.
Worst case go to the sporting goods store D!cks and get some carbons for about $20. a half dozen.
3 Rivers shows some brass inserts for 2117 (100 grain)

or try somw gold tip add a weight if it will tred into your inserts( may need to run a thred cutter )

Or try to trade for 2018/2016s
Besides adding tip weight i would go with a hard thin strike plate. like sting ray hide, or some very thin leather. A lot of guys over look this as a tuning aid..... It will help you out a bunch getting a stiffer spine back on track. Kirk

Replace the aluminum adapters in the razerheads with steel ones and full length shafts....or trade for 2016s........
