Had an earlier post to help decide on glass or Chimera. Settled on glass/XTL, here are some "birthing" pics. Riser is Cocobola, limbs are Fiddleback Maple, core is XTL/bamboo.
Going to have Jims 'standard' grip with no grooves, and black riser accents.
limbs before any stain, nice curl-

Sweet looking bow! I'm so jealous of how clean the glue up is
Gonna be a beauty for sure,Congrats.

Appears to be starting the 3rd trimester.
She will no doubt be special.
Congrats!
Congrats to the proud papa. Pics will be mandatory once you get her home.
Looking forward to finished
pics of this beauty....!!!
Good like
Love the riser but "to me" and I'm known for being wrong sometimes but the riser looks more like Bocote or Zebra ...Might be just the lighting making it appear that way? Looks nice so far!
Keefer, its cocobolo for sure, just lots of black lines/contrast in the color. I specified a piece like this, and Jim sure found it.
Can't wait to see the finished product, great bows for sure.

Hey Lamey, isn't it exiting and how fab is Jim to sent these photo's. He finished ours last week and just waiting on the strings delivery to ship ours to the UK. Can't wait to get my hands on to shoot. Mines a black & white ebony chimera with xtl's. Sure youve already seen the photo's but had to share your excitment !!! He's really good to deal with isn't he? Got me a lovely piece of B&W ebony just as I asked for and hubby asked for striking bocote limbs and he did that too. Just fletching some arrows now waiting on the delivery. Bet we get them delivered just at the same time :clapper:
yep I saw your bow pics oulibeez, both knockouts... especially that BW ebony bow! Jims a great guy to deal with, cant wait to get this one in my hands.
heres a pic of the overlay going on...

Jim makes true works of art. They are all beauties for sure!!
What wood is the overlay?
cocobolo.
Its going to be lovely Lamey.
I left my overlays to Jim choice - he chose carbon fibre to compliment the carbon fibre back :-) Nice choice Jim :-)
Gorgeous bow and great bowyer. Jim is indeed the salt of the earth!
I'm having a problem with the woods too though. Looks like Zebra to me and tamo or tuxedo ash veneers. The color must be really washed out of the pics. That is possible too. Very nice though.
God bless, Steve
Woods are definitely Cocobola and Fiddleback (curly) Maple.
Cocobola comes in MANY variations, ive used it for over 20 years and always surprised how much variation I find. I asked Jim to find me a piece with logs of variation/black, which he did.... this is why it may look similar to Zebra.
The maple is definitely maple, look at the pre stained pics.
Looking fwd. to more pics then getting it IN HAND!
here is a piece of cocobolo that also has the black lines and variation in base color (this piece actually had some orange/yellow in the board).

Jamie's (Yeharrr) Centaur handle has darker Cocobolo then it runs into the stripy lighter wood. I like it.
Nice knife BTW.
Woo hoo, Jim just emailed, our are on the way to the UK :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:
be sure and post up some pics when they arrive.
Really enjoying the pics Matt !!! Keep them coming

Lamey, NOw those last pics do look like cocabola. That sure is a neat looking bow. Good tips too.
God bless, Steve
Steve I figured it would start looking more like "traditional" cocobolo once he started on shaping. If you look at the top pic on p2, it has that more traditional cocobolo look too.
The side that has all the black lines should be interesting once he contours the riser.
Going to dial in at 50-53#, perfect ;-)
Coming along very nicely !!! Looking forward to seeing the finished bow.
Bill
getting closer...

Beautiful looking bow!
thanks! on this one I opted for no finger grooves. Out of all the Centaurs ive shot, I just liked the non grooved models.
Should be done in a day or 2.
Matt, I just discovered this thread and am so excited for you! A great choice of bow and materials! I'm sure you will enjoy every shot with this beauty!
Anxious to see it finished!
Steve
