My only son,22, finally asked me to shot a bow,I am a lefty with some 100 bows in my stable but not a single one that has his dexterity.
So I asked a friend to loan me his Green Stripe riser and I set it with some Rose Oak limbs,I have plenty.
After few arrows he felt in love with the bow so I am going to buy that riser, thanks to the TV serial "Arrow".
Next he asked me to hunt with me to see how it works.
I am at the seven heaven, never pushed him to grab a bow!
I always looked forward to bow hunting with my son. He was crazy about shooting 3D when he was young but once he turned 15 he didn't want anything too do with archery or hunting.
Enjoy while you can and hope it will strengthen the bond between you.
How neat is that?
That is terrific Felix!
My 34 year old son and I have been bowhunting together since he was 13.
My grandson told me on Monday this week that he "made" the archery team at his elementary school. I'm very proud of this for a variety of reasons. I've been careful not too push either. I just make sure opportunity and guidance are available.
As with your son, neither of these young men are left-eye dominant so I'm not much help giving them my bows.
A benefit not to be ignored is that these young'ns are great help dragging bow-killed beasts! In fact, my son has me scout the drag and he does all the pulling!
Awesome! Something like that makes a Dad proud. Enjoy sharing your adventures with your son, because it doesn't get any better than that.
Thats great Felix. happy for you two.
Enjoy.
That's great Felix! He will enjoy it even more since he persued it. Great times ahead!
 Cool!!!
Great Felix
Right on Felix. That is awesome.
Thanks my friends it means a lot to me.
Cool!
How fortunate you are!
Killdeer :archer:
That is awesome buddy! Congrats to many shared adventures together. Shall I bring a couple for him to shoot on my visit this summer:)
Keith,come over when you want!
Fantastic Felix. My brother just picked up a trad bow for the first time this year after many many years of hunting with a compound. So I know the emotions you are experiencing. Good luck to you both!
I got lucky. My two kids and I shoot lefty.
thats a great feeling to encounter gotta love sharing what you love with each other makes it what it should be!!CONGRATS MAN
That's great Felix.
That's great! I truly know how you feel. Both of my sons grew up hunting and shooting bows with me at every opportunity. In their late teens they drifted away, one in college and the other in the Marines. One of them didn't even pick up a bow for about eight years. They both came back into archery and bow hunting in their mid twenties and haven't looked back. I shoot right handed, as do both my sons. My problem is that every time I look, I am missing another bow from my collection!
That's awesome! Congrats to many good times!
That's awesome .
My son just started shooting this past summer , he is 33yrs. old but still has no desire to hunt . I told him he doesn't have to . But he loves to eat venison though .
Felix,
That is fantastic...I know how much it means to you.
Pat
I hope he sticks with it and with you. Nothing is as special as time spent with your child. NOTHING!
Tim
That is a great feeling, when someone shows and interest like your son. Let the fun begin.
Great News. Love it!
Hey Ol Buddy SOOO glad to hear this. You know to me how much it means to hunt with your son.Memories that will last forever no matter what the outcome of the hunt is.
Fantastic Felix!!
Felix, that is wonderful. That is probably the best Christmas present you ever received.
Good for you Felix. Kind of ironic though. A hundred left hand bows, and he's a righty.
Good for you Felix, and maybe even better for your son. The best thing for him is having a father who can teach him the ways of honorable sportsmanship and a true passion for hunting with real bows. He may just be luckier than you!
I can almost feel your excitement in the words you've written Felix. That's awesome!!!!!
The most important advise I can offer your son is to learn to shoot left handed! Ha!
Thanks !
Good for you and good for your son. Here's to many happy memories...

Cool!!!! I have a feeling I may get to meet him someday.

It is always something special when a son (or daughter) asks to get involved in a wholesome activity with Dad.
Congrats to both of you. May your adventures be many.
