Title: New to longbow
Post by: Paul Campbell jr on January 07, 2014, 03:30:00 PM
I am shooting a Dwyer dauntless 28 at 50.I think I am drawing 29 inches. I am leaving the arrow dynamics hammer head trad full length with a 175 grain head and a 26 gr insert.   I was told to keep arrow weight at 500 to 525. Will this set work? New to trad bows trying to get started in the right direction.

Just a quick glance at the Hammerhead specs tells me those arrows would be way too stiff for your set up...how did you pick that arrow model?

Even the Trad lites might be too stiff.

I have a test kit from three rivers. What would be a good starting point? New to all of this

You said 28 lbs, right? I don't think 3 Rivers has a test kit that light.

I'm trying to do the same thing but at 35 lbs. Just for testing, it seems the Easton aluminum 1816 might be a good starting point. They can be had fairly cheaply and you (me too) can fine tune the spine and find what shoots well before investing (re-investing in my case) in a full set.

Oh, 28 at 50. You meant 28 inches at 50lbs, not the other way around. Never mind...
