I am getting ready to build a carpet target. Does it matter if I shoot at it with the layers horizontal or should I have them vertical. It seems like it would be easier on the arrows if if was vertical. Just wondering if it really makes any difference.
vertical makes sense, that is how your supposed to shoot the black box targets.
We have carpet butts at our indoor range. All carpet pieces are laid flat on top of each other then banded tight. You should be shooting into the ends not thru the carpet pieces.
It makes a difference on layered foam targets so I would do it the same way. Vertical orientation for most shots straight on and/or elevated. A layered target should last a lot longer this way since you're not shooting "through" the layers as much.
