Thunderstick 60" Mag, 50@28!! Awesome shooter, have yet to find one better so I ordered another! Cocobolo riser, Moose antler tips, zebra veneers. Gorgeous bow and a killer too!

I have bought custom bows twice as expensive looking to improve and still keep coming back to my mag. It is the bow for me. That doesn't mean I might not try some more in the future though :bigsmyl:
-
Here is the most beautiful bow I ever owned. A shrew classic hunter. I picked the bocote board myself and had Gregg Coffey cut the veneers and riser from the board. Buff tips and riser overlays. Turned out awesome but I couldn't get used to the carbon sound. My nephew owns it and loves it!! A most enjoyable and possibly costly thread.

Green,
Is that full quill ostrich on your grip? Sweet looking bow!

I'm with friend on this one. This thread may end up costing me some money.
Longbows on this I need:
Shrew
Pronghorn
Kanati
But to the point of the thread, I just love the looks of a sinew backed snakey osage.

I think they need a new category. Instead of longbows and recurves there should be longcurves or rebows...some of these so called LBs are just a recurve riser with r/d longbow limbs.
Some of these longbows are looking more and more like a recurve.
-
Haha, i can't say i'd argue with that snag. As much curve as my longbow's limbs have, it's definately somewhere in that hybrid gray area.
-
snag, I own and enjoy the "recurvy" "longbows" like my Treadway Black Swamps, but I refuse to call them longbows. They are hybrids--sort of like a mule is a cross between a horse and a donkey so you don't call it either horse or donkey, those bows are a cross between a longbow and recurve. They are great shooters and I like mine a lot, but I only refer to my Hills and other Hill style bows as longbows. And it's not because I'm a purist or snob, I shoot all sorts of bows and love anything with a (single) string that shoots arrows. I just have been around archery a long time (like over 50 years) and I tend to use terms we have always used in the past to describe bows. Bear and some other companies came out with hybrid designs in the 50s and they were referred to as "semi-recurves" and I think that was an appropriate name. Here is one of my favorite longbows--a Northern Mist Shelton in green glass.
(http://i796.photobucket.com/albums/yy241/davidmitchell_6466/NM%20Shelton--green/GreenNMShelton005.jpg) (http://s796.photobucket.com/user/davidmitchell_6466/media/NM%20Shelton--green/GreenNMShelton005.jpg.html)
This is a picture of a Shelton on the left and a Hill string follow Big Five on the right showing the difference in the amount of string follow between the two.

Sorry Chortdraw but that is a recurve see where the string touches the limb below the nock on the upper limb and I assume on the lower limb. That is what seperates a recurve from a hybrid.

(Helens favorite) I built this 66" D/R longbow for Helen 2 years ago using KennyM's 62"/64" design. Helen uses it for longrange (out to 70 meters) target archery. Zebrawood veneers, amberboo tapers, over 26 layers of fiberglass in riser for mass weight.
