My buddy and I are planning a red stag hunt in New Zealand. Anyone have any experience with WildSide Hunting Safaris LTD. Spoke with PH Gerald Fluerty a few times and he seems to be a stand up fellow. Would like to avoid major problems on this once in a lifetime hunt so any info would be greatly appreciated.
well i know a few guys that go there and they all say it is awesome but i have no need to travel that far just for a deer as i go just up the road 1/2 hrs drive for fallow deer. so if i was you i would go for it it is a nice place and nice people that run it. oh yeah there is another place called go bush wilderness adventures run by danny hemopo they offer.
free range bowhuntintrout fishing
good numbers of red deer and goats
remote cabin stays.
danny hemopo ph 07896 6884 or gobush@xtra.co.nz orwww.gobush.co.nz now this place is worth a look.
Talking with Too Short, who spends winters there, he said there were few opportunites other than "game farm" situations...do your research so you don't get surprised!
Talk with Paul, he's always eager to help.
there is a lot of opportunites here in new zealand you just got ta look but ya cant go wrong with the guys i told ya about.
Flatshooter,Gerald fluerty is a class act and he can provide virtualy anything you want,be it free range or high fence hunting of any NZ deer types, plus pigs and goats, small game ect.
His pricing is very competitive with most NZ out fitters
Go Bush is a great hunting property but the trophy quality of the Red Deer on the place is not really that good.
Go bushes deer are the sort of animal the average Kiwi hunter would be finding on public land, they are not managed or bred for trophy quality.
Their not the bred for big $$$$$$$$$$$$ animals a lot of tourist hunters see on some NZ hunting web sites.
You also won't get a hunt at Go Bush during the Roar/rut as Danny only allows family and a select few in during that time.
Having said that their are probably more good average deer at Go bush than just about anywhere else in NZ,and a LOT more than any public area.
I resently spent 3 days at Go bush and saw around a dozen deer each day "winter is best for go bush" as the bush is very quite when it's wet,,,which it will be,and you will be ground stalking the whole time.
Go Bush also has guided trout fishing for mountain Rainbows.
The prices at Go Bush can't be beat anywhere by anybody.
If you want to experience real NZ hunting and arn't to worried about trophys then Go Bush is your best bet.
For top quality managed animals on private land "most of it free range" then Gerald is your man.
Cheers.
Hey guy! Thanks a lot for the informaion. Heard pretty much the same thing about said outfitter operations. It's always nice to have it validated by guys who can speak first hand. I think my buddy and I are going with Gerald for this once in a lifetime experience. Thanks again
ya are most welcome
