Title: Need help to ID an old recurve
Post by: thor0812 on January 04, 2014, 09:35:00 PM
Got this today and cant find any info on it. It's a 60" recurvr and on the lower limb it says what looks like Joe Suire 58@28 1983. Anyone out there have any info on this bow? Anything would be great

I'm thinking it was built by that person in 1983. He may have only built one or two bows in his lifetime or that may be the only one.

Thanks guys, that's pretty much what I was thinking but you never know. Maybe the only one, maybe 1 of 100. At 60" what would be a good start on string? I was thinking dacron b50 at 56". Also, what would be a good starting point on brace height?

Not knowing if amo standards are followed so its a guess. Don't see reinforced limb tips so dacron a good choice. Being the dacron will stretch starting with 56" and let her stretch to 57" may work. Guessing 7.5-8" brace.

I'm with katman but I'd measure between the string nocks following the belly side of the bow and subtract 4" from that length. Actually, after making the length I want I pre-stretch my strings by twisting them up another 2" shorter and stretching them back out. I have found there is very little string stretch after doing that.
