Title: Your 2014 New Year's resolution
Post by: Altiman94 on December 31, 2013, 09:38:00 PM
I think this could end up being a fun thread.  What are everyone's New Year's resolution?

I'll start it....I've been dabbling with the trad bow since 2008 and its time that I go full time and harvest a deer.  I went full time in 2010 but had a bad year seeing deer and never even had a shot.  I went back to wheels the last 2 years to maximize shot opportunities but I think I'm ready to make the full transition.

My resolution is to be in better physical shape, enough that if given the chance I could hunt any animal in North America ( elk, sheep, you name it)

Recovering from Lyme has been tough, my bow weight dropped 5 pounds every few months. 2014 I'll be back to the old me!!

Happy New Year Trad Gang

I never get to bow hunt enough to satisfy me, so I want to work on that. Also, I lost 25lbs last summer and I'd like to lose more.

I want to finally get a little shack built at camp with a wood stove and some bunks so I can have room for guests to come stay without having to haul camping stuff with them.

Oh, and maybe have a baker style tent on the lower part by the river.

Of course "loose weight" and hopefully see a deer while on stand.   2013 did not provide either.

Yup, wood arrows.  Been shooting them over and over with broadheads and quiver is all set up with them for a few more hunts this season.  Have not shot a deer with woods for a few years,  just carbon and aluminum.

I've lost 10 pounds in a year. I want to loose 20 more as I turn 60 in 2014 to be below weight for my age and physique.

I'm also going to add more variety and consistency to my activity levels.

I'm going to apply for MT Bighorn Sheep.

I weighed more than I ever had when the season started..194 lbs. I'm down to 162 lbs. now...my normal weight..many yrs ago.

Walking up and down the ridges just about ever day does it...along with being too tired to cook when I get home.

My resolution..one of them..is to hunt harder and more importantly smarter. Go where I know I should instead of stopping short. It takes a lot more effort and is very easy for me to get tired and talk myself into "easier places"..when I know odds are better a little farther back or I've been over hunting a place.

Lose a bit more weight and get my diabetes under control. Attend more 3D tournaments. Then I want to develop hunting accuracy to 25 yards. Scout more effectively to better locate some of my stands. I have a particular bow in mind but that may not be doable.

Lose 10#, then multiply that by 5 or 6!    :biglaugh:    And to start a savings account as a hunting fund, so that one of these days, I can go on a guided hunt out-of-state.

God bless you all in this new year!

Quit grabbing the wheelbow when I know I may see a big one.  This past year I got a new honey hole that held some really nice bucks.  I had them pretty much figured out and knew with time I would have a good chance at them. Well I was forunate enough to take two P&Y bucks but both were with the Wheelbow.  Even though I have been shooting well I did not have the confidence that I would be able to seal the deal. Fact is I still have a very fond taste for big bones. Both shots were at around 15 yards:(
